CONNECTIONS Providence staff members recently participated in a missions community service event at Second Harvest Food Bank! We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our neighbors and community.
From the Director of Worship Arts Providence Artist Series: Great Music, Open Doors — This summer, Providence launched the Providence Artist Series, a new concert initiative designed to bring exceptional music into our restored Sanctuary, while also opening our doors more widely to the greater Charlotte community. Our inaugural concert in late July, presented in collaboration with the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists, featured our own Ed West alongside the Noel Freidline Quartet. The afternoon exceeded our expectations, welcoming more than 200 people into the sanctuary and generating rave reviews from both Providence members and guests. It was an exciting beginning—and a wonderful demonstration of the role music can play in bringing people together. Our most recent Artist Series concert in September featured Carolina Brass, an outstanding ensemble of principal players from
the Charlotte Symphony. We are grateful for another opportunity to welcome gifted musicians and new audiences to Providence. That brings us to our final concert of 2026: the Astralis Chamber Ensemble, a Baroque quartet featuring renowned flutist Angela Massey. This performance promises to showcase the intimacy, elegance, and vitality of Baroque music in a space beautifully suited to it. We hope you will join us—and bring someone with you! The Providence Artist Series is supported primarily through the Missions Match Endowment Fund, established to advance initiatives that extend Providence’s reach into the community beyond our walls. That purpose is at the heart of this series. Our hope is that these concerts will encourage each of us to think of people within our own spheres of influence— friends, neighbors, colleagues, and others who may not ordinarily
enter our church—and invite them to Providence. Here, they can experience the beauty and acoustics of our restored sanctuary, be inspired by great music, and encounter the warmth and vitality of our community. Plans are already underway for future Artist Series concerts, which we anticipate presenting on a quarterly basis in 2027. Great music. Open doors. New connections. Stay tuned!

Mission Sunday (Sunday, October 4) — As part of our Generosity Campaign, we are challenging Providence members to Serve Together through five mission opportunities! We'll gather for a free breakfast in the Fellowship Hall at 9:15am, have a brief congregational gathering in the Sanctuary at 9:45am, followed by our five mission opportunities! Activity Center Renovations (Effective September 21, 2026) — As part of our Activity Center renovations, the main entrance doors to the Activity Center, as well as the entrance near the construction fencing and storage container, will close for the duration of construction. During this time, an alternate entrance at the far end of the gym away from the construction area will be available for gym programs and the walking track only. Access is limited to construction and other authorized personnel only. Thank you for your patience as we begin this exciting renovation.
