Coming Soon: Nametags for Worshippers at Providence
Have you ever found yourself in a worship service unable to recall the name of someone sitting near you? You might wonder: “What’s her name?” or “I know his face but I can’t remember his name.” That’s OK! It happens to all of us. It takes time—and effort—to learn someone’s name.
When someone calls us by our name, it warms our heart and strengthens our sense of belonging. When someone calls us by our name, it communicates their care and intention to show hospitality. Isaiah 43:1 reminds us that we serve a loving God who “calls us by name.”
In 2025, two of our church’s top priorities are “promoting a culture of invitation” and “building strong relationships.” Learning our church members' names would go a long way to achieve these priorities.
To that end, the Providence Baptist Church Endowment is here to help! They have generously granted funds to be used for the purpose of creating durable and attractive
name tags for all worshippers. We hope to begin using these name tags in Advent 2025. The idea is to store our name tags in the rotunda so that as we enter the church, our name tag will be waiting for us. You’ll wear this name tag especially during the worship service. As you leave church, you’ll deposit your name tag into a basket where it will be returned to its designated storage location and be ready for you the following Sunday.
In order to do this, though, we need your help! Please take a moment to complete the quick and simple form found in the Monday emails or by scanning the QR code below. This form will help make sure that your name appears correctly on your name tag. There is also a collection box in the Rotunda where you can register for your new name tag. Providence will be collecting names from July through September 15, when we’ll send our collected names to the printer. Our name tags will include our first and last names. For example, my name tag will read: “Blake Kendrick” and will feature the church logo. Take a moment to fill
out the form so that, come Advent, your name tag is waiting for you.
I hope you’ll join me in wearing your name tag in worship, which will enable us all to promote a culture of invitation and build stronger relationships. May Providence Baptist Church be a place “where everybody knows your name," and may the peace of Christ be with you!
