Extensive experience in a broad range of heart and vascular care plays a key role in this success. Providence Everett performs more cardiovascular procedures than almost any other hospital in the state.

“Providence gave me a new lease on life”
Steve Schauweker, 63, brushed off chest pain until it became unbearable. His care team, using donor-supported medical technology, quickly found and fixed a 90% artery blockage. Three stents later, Steve is back to his busy life and grateful for world-class care close to home.
Our community’s continued investment in this important work has directly enhanced patient outcomes. Over the years, donors have played a major role in equipping Providence with the advanced tools and technology needed to successfully treat patients, using a variety of ways to help them heal.
Increasing financial pressures
Now, health care faces unprecedented financial challenges. Nationwide, rising supply andlabor costs, inadequate and delayed insurance reimbursements and, most recently, deep government funding cuts have strained resources needed to sustain high-quality care. At the same time, a growing and aging population creates a greater demand for care than ever before. Together, these challenges may affect access to exceptional, local care. With your partnership, we can weather this storm. Will you invest in Providence Everett to help deliver leading edge heart and vascular care to our community?
As research and technology advances, we need your support to continue offering equipment, expertise and exceptional clinicians to treat all kinds of conditions, from blockages to rhythm irregularities or structural abnormalities. With your help, our teams will have the best-in-class tools when you or someone you love needs cardiovascular care.
Catheter-based procedures
Fueled by philanthropy, Providence Everett can treat many kinds of heart and vascular problems. Thin tubes called catheters are
used inprocedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, which replaces an entire heart valve without open-heart surgery. Catheters can also remove blockages from major arteries and implant devices to help the heart pump. These minimally invasive procedures help reduce the risk of complications, speed recovery, and offer a safe and effective treatment for many heart and vascular conditions.
Providence Everett performs more than 7,000 cardiothoracic and vascular procedures annually in some of the most high-tech operating and interventional rooms in the country. Hybrid surgical suites enable our interventionalists and surgeons to work side by side, giving patients the highest level of care. Donors like you helped bring this technology to Providence and enable continuous improvements in innovative, effective care.
Surgical solutions
When surgery is the best treatment option, Providence Everett offers some of the most advanced procedures available and performs nearly 700 open heart and thoracic surgeries each year.
Bypass surgery is among the most common procedures to lower the risk of heart attacks. It involves removing a healthy blood vessel from a leg, arm or chest wall and re-locating it in the heart to allow blood to flow around a blockage.
Patients who undergo heart surgery and need cardiac-specific, intense monitoring and treatment can go directly to a private room as part of the cardiac single stay program—afirst of its kind program in Washington state. The single stay program provides critical care nursing following heart surgery and as a patient’s condition improves, focus shifts to preparing a patient to safely go home.
Vascular Care
Providence Everett’s vascular surgeons work together to give patients exceptional care in restoring or improving blood flow in vessels. They collaborate on complex cases, drawing
on the team’s decades of experience in treating a wide range of circulatory system issues. Routine procedures include clearing or bypassing blockages in the neck, improving blood flow in the carotid artery to lower stroke risk, aortic aneurysm repairs to prevent rupture, and removing leg artery blockages. Both minimally invasive and traditional surgeries ensure the best outcomes, and the vascular team always involves patients in discussions about their treatment options.
Cardiac rehabilitation
When a patient leaves Providence Everett after a heart condition diagnosis or procedure, we continue to care for them, and cardiac rehabilitation is often part of their recovery. Providence has supported patients through cardiac rehabilitation for more than 50 years. Cardiac rehab has been clinically proven to improve the lifespan and quality of life after a diagnosis or treatment of a heart-related event.
