RESIDENCE BUILDINGS

This student residence project was developed through a P3 DBFOM procurement by the University of Ottawa to expand affordable on-campus housing. The 2,600bed program was split across two sites: a courtyard scheme at the east edge near a residential neighbourhood, and a tower at the west edge by the Rideau Canal. The design emphasized enhancing the campus through new gateways, connections, green spaces, and amenities serving both residents and the broader student body. To compete with off-campus housing, priorities included design quality, unit options, construction quality, affordability, maintainability, and amenities. The design was also shaped by input from the developer, operator, and builder, particularly regarding construction logistics within the constrained urban context.
