Our name says it all: "Protsaah" is derived Currently, people in Burkina Faso, India, from Sanskrit "protsahan," which means "to Kashmir, Rwanda, Syrian Refugee Projects encourage." and Tibet create the high-quality crafted pieces in our various collections. '2015 - 2018 It was a brave idea, to try to give the women of Tibet an opportunity to change their lives and the lives within their community. The energy of the project was so electric that we grew from a team of 7 artisans to 44 in a matter of months. 2019 - 2021 The world changed and with it changed the project as we knew it; we lost 11 dear members of the artisan community to Covid-19 and as we battled to keep in touch and support with supplies. The local government ordered a forced migration of two entire villages to industrial zones, where all able folk was recruited to work in factories and reside in labour camps, we were torn away from 20 sisters. 2021 With a heavy heart and a small team, we embarked a sustainable journey in a new direction - 'Re/Bijou'

China invaded Tibet in 1950. After more than 70 years of occupation, Tibetans still resist China's rule and defy its oppression. Tibetans are regularly snatched from the street or their homes and then locked away in secret after sham trials, or just forced to migrate to the industrial worker camps around Lhasa.
We started our Lhasa project with just 7 women in 2016. We grew our team to 44 women over the next 3 years. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 and forced migration of two entire villages, we now have a small group of 13 women working in our project. As of 2021, only our best-selling Shimmering Disks Collection is handcrafted by 13 Tibetan women artisans in their home workshops in the Lhasa Valley Tibet's heartland.
