Swimming can be a calming, therapeutic, and enjoyable activity for people of all ages and abilities. For individuals with sensory sensitivities, including those with autism or other special needs, the water can provide a soothing, lowstimulation environment that feels safe and freeing. For seniors, swimming offers a gentle, lowimpact way to stay active, relaxed, and connected.
The Recreation Department has designated special swim hours for Sensory Swim and Seniors (55+), creating a quieter, more comfortable environment away from the noise and bustle of regular open swim. This time allows participants and families to enjoy the pool in a peaceful, welcoming setting designed for comfort, accessibility, and relaxation.
