Homecoming
Homecoming is a community event held every year to celebrate those who have graduated from PISD as they return home to visit friends and family. PISD Homecoming is celebrated with a community parade, pep rally, football game, and a dance for current high school students. A key part of Homecoming in Texas includes Homecoming Mums and Garters. Homecoming mums have been a tradition in Texas since the 50’s when girls would often receive a flower with a few ribbons attached from her date to commemorate Homecoming. Mums and garters are usually given/received during the week of Homecoming and worn for the Homecoming festivities including the parade, Homecoming pep rally, and the Homecoming game. Solid white mums and ribbons are traditionally “reserved” for Seniors.

Hope Walk
Hope Walk is a community event organized by the campus Hope Squads to spread mental health awareness.
