Probablemente al pasear por el Malecón se han detenido a admirar una hermosa escultura de bronce en la que un hombre y una mujer están sentados mirando hacia el mismo punto..

La escultura es obra de Ramiz Barquet (México, 1920-2010) escultor Mexico-libanés que vivió los últimos 30 años de su vida en PV. La donó a la ciudad en 1984 y se ha convertido en uno de iconos de la ciudad.

La escultura celebra la declaración de amor y propuesta de matrimonio de Barquet hacia Nelly, mujer a la que había conocido y de la cual se había enamorado cuando eran jóvenes en la Cdad. de México, allá de los años cuarenta. Presiones familiares obligaron a Ramiz a dejar a Nelly y a México,; se refugió en un convento franciscano en Canadá por muchos años, donde aprendió el arte de la escultura y volvió a Mexico para convertirse en un reconocido artista. A principios de los 80¨s, después de que cada uno había hecho su respectiva vida por su lado, se reencontró con ella y el amor , que siempre estuvo latente, se encendió de nuevo.

Estuvieron casados mas de 35 años y fueron muy, muy felices.

Ramiz murió a los 90 años y Nelly todavía es una bella mujer, que disfruta de una vida plena a la que el amor le ha dado sentido.

Probably when walking along the Malecón they have stopped to admire a beautiful bronze sculpture in which a man and a woman are sitting looking towards the same point.

The sculpture is the work of Ramiz Barquet (Mexico, 1920-2010) Mexican-Lebanese sculptor who lived the last 30 years of his life in PV. He donated it to the city in 1984 and it has become one of the city’s icons.

The sculpture celebrates Barquet’s declaration of love and marriage proposal to Nelly, a woman he had met and with whom he had fallen in love when they were young in Mexico City, back in the forties. Family pressures forced Ramiz to leave Nelly and Mexico; he took refuge in a Franciscan convent in Canada for many years, where he learned the art of sculpture and returned to Mexico to become a renowned artist. At the beginning of the 80´s, after each one had made their respective lives, he was reunited with her and their love, which was always latent, was kindled again.

They were married for more than 35 years and they were very, very happy. Ramiz died at the age of 90 and Nelly is still a beautiful woman, who enjoys a full life to which love has given meaning.

Desde que se creara en 1909, todos los presidentes de EE.UU. han dejado su impronta decorativa en la estancia que representa el km 0 del poder mundial. Estos son algunos de los cambios que han hecho los últimos mandatarios en su espacio de trabajo

uando se preside la nación más poderosa de la Tierra, es difícil no dejar huella. Por acotar el tema temporalmente, de cada uno de los presidentes de EE.UU desde los años sesenta podemos resaltar un acontecimiento que ha tenido repercusión a nivel global: desde la crisis de los misiles en Cuba con Kennedy, que llevó al mundo al borde de la Tercera Guerra Mundial, hasta la desastrosa presidencia de Donald Trump, rematada por el esperpéntico asalto al Capitolio, pasando por la escalada de la guerra de Vietnam con Lyndon B. Johnson, el escándalo Watergate con Nixon, la crisis de los rehenes estadounidenses en Irán con Jimmy Carter, la revolución económica conservadora y el deshielo con la URSS con Ronald Reagan, las guerras del Golfo Pérsico con George Bush padre e hijo y el “sí se puede” de Barack Obama, el primer presidente negro.

To limit the subject temporarily, for each of the US presidents since the sixties we can highlight an event that has had repercussions on a global level: since the missile crisis in Cuba with Kennedy, which brought the world to the brink of the Third World War, until the disastrous presidency of Donald Trump, finished off by the grotesque assault on the Capitol, going through the escalation of the Vietnam War with Lyndon B. Johnson, the Watergate scandal with Nixon, the crisis of the American hostages in Iran with Jimmy Carter, the conservative economic revolution and the thaw with the USSR with Ronald Reagan, the Persian Gulf wars with George Bush father and son and the “yes we can” of Barack Obama, the first black president.

But beyond the geopolitical and cultural implications of their management, at a more domestic level all of them have also wanted their time as president to be noticed in the decoration of the White House and, more specifically, the Oval Office, the official place of work of US presidents, something for which the majority had the discreet but fundamental contribution of the respective first ladies, and in some cases with the advice of prominent interior designers.

He sure witnessed in them the fight for the civil rights of the African American population and the media coverage of the war in Vietnam, which many considered fundamental in the unpopularity and ultimately failure of the United States in this conflict.

The simple and flowing curtains were replaced by others of an imposing gold color, also used for the upholstery of the chairs and sofas located in front of the desk. Combined with the navy blue rug - designed by his wife Pat Nixon with the presidential seal in the center - they made an ensemble gaudy enough to be seen from space; no wonder Nixon was also the first president to make a long-distance call to the astronauts of the Apollo XI, mission that took man to the moon.

The explanation is that JFK suffered from chronic back pain, partly caused by his participation in the Pacific scene during World War II, which left

l edificio ondula bella y suavemente, en una sugerente analogía formal con el paisaje que lo circunda. En la ciudad de Shenzhen, conocida como la Silicon Valley del sudeste de China por su fulminante innovación en alta tecnología, están surgiendo centros culturales de notable factura arquitectónica. La próxima incorporación será el Museo de Historia Natural llamado Delta, en clara analogía con los meandros del lago Yanzi sobre los cuales se inclina delicadamente.

El proyecto ganador del concurso surge de la colaboración entre B+H Architects, 3XN y Zhubo Design y representa una continuación idealizada de los suaves y ondulantes cauces de agua del paisaje. El edificio estará destinado también a las necesidades de los usuarios, gracias a su diseño poroso y a las áreas verdes de fácil acceso que no sólo benefician a los visitantes del museo sino a los habitantes de la ciudad.

La programación estará centrada principalmente en exposiciones sobre ecología local, historia natural e investigación científica, y el edificio asume, a través de las metáforas que permite el lenguaje arquitectónico, esta temática. Los visitantes se desplazarán por galerías longitudinales hasta un volumen central de circulación vertical, y los diseñadores describen esa especie de procesión como “agua que discurre por el río”, y al volumen vertical como una “cueva” y también como “el corazón palpitante del museo”. De igual manera, en el exterior, a través de una cubierta verde cuidadosamente compuesta, se extenderá un parque público que ha de resaltar

las geometrías orgánicas del Museo de Historia Natural: “Así como un arroyo encuentra su forma emparejándose con la tierra, cada giro del diseño enmarca una nueva vista espectacular sobre el parque circundante, las colinas y lago, desde las terrazas dedicadas a la contemplación construidas a lo largo de la azotea”, explican los diseñadores.

De esta manera, el proyecto cumplirá su propósito manifiesto de que las lecciones de ecología local que los visitantes aprenderán en el Museo de Historia Natural Delta reciban el complemento de clases prácticas desde estas terrazas que miran el paisaje en parte natural y en parte urbano y las alternativas problemáticas o esperanzadoras de su convivencia.

he building undulates beautifully and smoothly, in a suggestive formal analogy with the surrounding landscape. In the city of Shenzhen, known as the Silicon Val-

ley of southeastern China for its explosive innovation in high technology, cultural centers of remarkable architectural make are emerging.

The next addition will be the Natural History Museum called Delta, in clear analogy with the meanders

of Lake Yanzi over which it gently slopes. The winning project in the competition arises from the collaboration between B + H Architects, 3XN and Zhubo Design and represents an idealized continuation of the landscape’s smooth, undulating waterways. The building will also be aimed at the needs of users, thanks to its porous design and easily accessible green areas that not only benefit museum visitors but also city dwellers.

The program will focus mainly on exhibitions on local ecology, natural history and scientific research, and the building assumes, through the metaphors that the architectural language allows, this theme. Visitors will move through longitudinal galleries to a central volume with vertical circulation, and the designers describe this kind of procession as “water that runs through the river”, and the vertical volume as a “cave” and also as “the beating heart of the Museum”.

Similarly, outside, through a carefully composed green roof, a public park will be extended that will highlight the organic geometries of the Museum of Natural History: “Just as a stream finds its shape by pairing up with the earth, each turn The design frames a spectacular new view over the surrounding park, hills and lake, from the dedicated gazebo terraces built along the rooftop ”, explain the designers.

In this way, the project will fulfill its stated purpose that the local ecology lessons that visitors will learn in the Delta Natural History Museum are complemented by practical classes from these terraces that look at the partly natural and partly urban landscape and the problematic or hopeful alternatives for their coexistence.

in lugar a dudas, a todos nos encanta la belleza de los muebles de madera maciza. No solo es estéticamente agradable, sino que también puede durar años y años cuando sepa qué comprar. Muchos extranjeros están invirtiendo en un nuevo condominio en Vallarta y el área de la Bahía en este momento. Es posible que no estén familiarizados con las diferentes especies de madera, sus pros y contras y su disponibilidad.

Dado que la madera es un material natural, es propensa a contraerse o expandirse durante el envejecimiento o dependiendo de la temperatura y humedad de su entorno. Kiln-dried wood can be ready in under a month. Season-dried, as the name implies, can take months or years. Unfortunately, the downside of kiln-dried lumber is that artificial heating prevents the wood from hardening as it would if it were season-dried. Kiln-dried wood is more prone to cracking and warping.

The choice of drying method also depends somewhat on the type of wood.

Some species dry better over time rather than in a kiln.

Regardless of which method, if not dried properly, the beautiful dresser or dining table you just purchased could quickly have problems.

Even with proper drying, no one can promise that a piece of wood furniture will not change. That is why it is essential to ensure any piece of furniture you purchase comes with a solid warranty. Be cautious - most carpenters do not provide a guaran-

That is when one face of the wood shrinks more in width than the opposite one. If a piece of wood has too much moisture along the grain, it can cause a bow. A twist is when diagonal corners of a board are not the same level or plane.
