1.2 COVERBRAIDING OF ROPES & CABLES

All our coverbraiders have 24 carriers, which gives a good tight cover, and high flexibility in types of covers, lengths to be covered and in thickness of the cover.

Commonly used fibers are Dyneema and Polyester.

Dyneema is far better for abrasion and cutting than most synthetic fibers available today. This is why the Dyneema is preferred for protection of critical operations.

(This is also the reason for this fiber to be preferred in products like cut-resistant gloves, bullet proof vests & helmets, automotive applications etc.).

For other applications the Polyester alternative is often preferred as a general protective cover for the Plexus ropes.

Cover braiding of cables with Plexus ropes as strength members incorporated in the sides. (for bottom seismic applications)

1.6 FAIRING, FOIL FAIRING

The foils are moulded in a durable & flexible PA material, suitable for rough handling.

The foils have excellent resistance towards crushing forces, and also contain flexibility within the material which makes the level of chafing towards the rope at a minimum.

This particular material quality is also contributing to prevent the foil from breaking and create sharp edges which might damage the ropes.

As a comparison: A rope with fringe fairings will normally have a drag coefficient of 1,8 – 1,9.

A rope in same size with foil fairings will have a drag coefficient of 0,15 - 0,30 !!

Furthermore there is also one more really big advantage when using the foil fairings: The foil fairings have shown that the acoustic noise has been significantly reduced.

Stainless steel clevis hook A very rugged hook specially constructed with an integral forged safety catch. The catch itself is particularly resistant to side loading. In the event of the hook being seriously overloaded the catch will spring out of position.

The point of the hook is designed to prevent incorrect use with the relevant size of chain, and the design of the hook itself is such that the safety catch does not reduce hook admittance. The hook base is dimensionally to DIN 7541 and the technology in accordance with DIN 5691.

The PLT Mini has been designed as a light tool to establish a line connection and life saving purposes. It is ideal for smaller boats with a need for line establishment up to 90 meters. ®

The PLT Mini can be equipped with different projectiles depending on the use. It can be used either with CO cartridges 2

or compressed air.

Propellant, Air or CO : 2

The Mini can be used either with disposable 32grams CO

2

cartridges or compressed air from a high pressure source such as a small cylinder. For professional users, the compressed air option is recommended.

Projectiles: ®

The PLT Mini can be equipped with the projectiles shown on the picture. This means that the equipment package can be tailored to fit the users exact needs. Available is also a waterproof, heavy duty suitcase for storing and handling.

Technical data: Shooting range is depending on projectile and line, from 50 to 100 meters.

The recoil is at the level of a light shotgun.

Colour

Cable Grips we supply a range of Cable Grips manufactured from Kevlar, Technora or Vectran in a flat braid form. These grips can be used as permanent or temporary attachment points on all types of cable or rope, either mid-length or at the ends. The grips are available in a wide range of sizes and lengths and can be tailored to suit customer’s particular requirements. The chart details the range of breaking strengths available as standard. Simply plait the tails in pairs around the cable and attach at the reinforced eye. Cable Grips are extremely versatile, flexible, reusable and nonmetallic. No specialised tools are required to fit the cable grips.

Please specify umbilical or rope diameter when ordering for the appropriate tail length to be supplied*. This is especially important in the case of large diameter umbilicals where tail lengths will be longer than those specified. All Cable Grips are supplied complete with either a removable galvanised steel thimble or double reinforced soft eye unless specified otherwise.

13.4 FALL ARRESTER - HARNESS

The quickest and easiest harness to get on and off. The harness is constructed according to the X-principle for simple spread of all the web-band and optimum weight distribution. All web-bands are fitted with “snap locks”. The harness is lined with Dri-Lex in order for the harness not to be experienced as moist/damp while wearing it.
