ERICABROWN LOCALHEROAWARDHONOREE

Erica Brown, is the Assistant Deputy Chief (ADC) of the Homeland Security Division of the San Francisco Fire Department since October 2020 The primary areas of responsibility in this role are Homeland Security Grants, Terrorism and Disaster Response planning, USAR/Canine support, SFPD and Department of Emergency Management liaison and Incident and Special Event Response planning.

Prior to that, she was the Program Coordinator for the San Francisco Fire Department's (SFFD) Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT). ADC Brown joined the SFFD as a firefighter in December 1997. While in the role of Coordinator, Brown supervised the training of over 19,450 people in NERT’s disaster preparedness and response classes. In addition, she expanded advanced training classes offered to residents and NERT graduates so volunteers can maintain and increase their skill levels.

ADC Brown also worked extensively with the State, City agencies, the private sector, and individual citizens in pre-disaster planning and training She devoted particular effort to reaching underserved areas in San Francisco In 2011, she received the award for Most Empowering City Employee from the Neighborhood Empowerment Network of San Francisco, an honor voted on by residents of San Francisco And in September 2016, she accepted the FEMA Individual and Community Preparedness Division’s John D Solomon award for NERT’s approach to the Whole Community A San Francisco native from the Western Addition, Brown attended Presentation High School and graduated from Humboldt State University. ADC Arteseros lives in San Francisco.

Priortojoining UNCF,sheservedasDirectorof ProgramsfortheMarcusA.FosterEducational Institute.Hercareerbeganasananalystwiththeformer Mayorof Oakland,Elihu Harrisshortly aftergraduating from SanFranciscoStateUniversity witha Bachelorof ArtsDegreeinJournalism/CommunicationArtsandcontinuedthroughhiseight-year tenure

Ms. Sudduth currently serves on the board of The Mentoring Center of Oakland. Her community leadership has been recognized by Chevron and the National Coalition of Black Women – San Francisco Chapter Most recently, she received the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated EducationAdvancementFoundationLeadership andPhilanthropy Award

A proud 38-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Ms Sudduth remains an activeadvocateforimproving socio-economicconditionswithinthecommunitiessheserves of womenandgirls

Piper Overstreet-White serves as Senior Vice President of Government & Community Relations for the Las Vegas Raiders Piper functions at the intersection of public policy, sports, and social impact In this role, Piper leads the organization’s local and state legislative strategy, advancing key initiatives and fostering engagement with stakeholders to support the Raiders’ strategic priorities. She also oversees the team’s community impact programs, charitable giving initiatives, sustainability efforts, and youth sports programs.

Under Piper’s leadership, the Raiders have achieved a 200% increase in participation in Silver & Black League programming, expanded awareness of available resources across Nevada, and strengthened relationships with community partners. Her efforts have significantly deepened the organization’s impact and visibility within the market.

Guided by a lifelong commitment to community, Piper actively serves on several local boards, including the Clark County School District School Naming Committee, the CCSD Community Partnership Action Council, and the Nevada Taxpayers Association She is also engaged with community-based organizations, including the Las Vegas Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc , Southern Nevada Sistas of Service, and the Las Vegas Branch of the NAACP

JONATHAN BEANE

EXECUTIVELEADERSHIPAWARDHONOREE

Jonathan Beane began his role as the NFL’s Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer in 2020 Beane spearheads the league’s overarching diversity, equity and inclusion strategy and implementation. He also works closely with senior leadership to drive actionable change throughout the league and all 32 clubs.

Over the course of his career, Beane has led companies to foster more inclusive cultures and has established himself as a successful diversity strategist. Prior to joining the NFL, Beane served as the Senior Vice President of Global Diversity and Inclusion for 21st Century Fox where he worked with leaders across the company to effectively plan and execute various global diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Beane has also held leadership positions in strategic planning, corporate responsibility and diversity and inclusion at Johnson Controls, Time Warner and Novartis respectively

Beane holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University, as well as a Juris Doctor and MBA degree from the University at Buffalo - SUNY He earned his BA in American History from Dartmouth College Beane served on the Board of Directors of GLAAD and currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University at Buffalo School of Law and on the Board of Directors of CUNY’s Black Male Initiative He and his wife, Jodie, live in White Plains, NY with their two children

NAKOBE DEAN

HEARTOFACHAMPIONAWARDHONOREE

Nakobe Dean is a current NFL player with the Philadelphia Eagles and a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he studied mechanical engineering Since joining the Eagles, Nakobe has embraced Philadelphia not only as his team city, but as a community he actively serves through outreach, service initiatives, and youth-focused engagement.

He is deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of underserved communities and founded Kind Hearts, a nonprofit initiative focused on supporting disadvantaged children and families. Through Kind Hearts, Nakobe has been actively involved in the Philadelphia community, particularly during the holidays through turkey giveaways and toy drives, and has represented both Kind Hearts and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Philadelphia through the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats campaign.

Raised by his mother, Neketta, in a single-parent household alongside his older brother, Nikolas, and younger sister, Brooklyn, Nakobe was instilled early with the value of service His mother, who worked in community affairs in Tunica County, Mississippi, regularly involved her children in volunteer efforts, shaping Nakobe’s lifelong commitment to giving back

At Georgia, Nakobe maintained a 3 55 GPA in the mechanical engineering program and developed a strong interest in prosthetics, inspired by visits to Veterans Affairs facilities with his mother, a military veteran
