Paul Hussey of Real Estate 3000 has been in the real estate business for 48 years. A veteran honorably discharged from the military due to an injury aboard his ship, Paul returned home needing a plan for a new career. While at a job he took as a grocery bagger, a realtor he met there saw something special in Paul and decided to become his mentor. Paul never looked back. From then on, his real estate business continued growing in rental, residential and commercial properties. Have you seen the tallest flag on Telegraph Road? That’s his flying high with pride. Selling properties in the Downriver area has since become a family affair, as well.

Paul’s daughter-in-law Erica Hussey is a second-generation American, Woodhaven High School alumni, and University of Michigan graduate with a degree in finance. Erica built upon the foundation her own family laid – her father having moved to De- troit as a Hungarian refugee with only $20 in his pocket. She met her husband, Eric, in 1999, the same year Real Estate 3000 was established, and the business became a part of their lives. Her success is attributable to empathy, pure and simple. She prefers “treating everybody as if they were my own family. I have personally purchased a lot of real estate, so I go through the transaction as if it were my own, making sure my clients' wants and needs are met.”

Erica started writing mortgages as a loan officer when she first entered the real estate industry in 2004. In 2007, she became a licensed real estate agent so she could start investing personally. Years of learning through her own residential rentals, full renovations, and flips brought Erica a wealth of valuable knowledge. “People kept asking me for advice to help them with the home buying process, renting, and investing, so real estate quickly became a full-time career.”

"Here at Real Estate 3000, real estate is our life. Once people understand the depth of our experience, they can truly trust our advice. 100% of our business has been referral based. You are not just another sale here at Real Estate 3000," stand what they're signing. I keep my phone on my hip and tell people to text me whenever they want.” Because the home buying/selling process is an important life event that can get emotional and stressful, Erica uses years of expertise to lay out the process one step at a time and bring clients peace of mind. munities. “We put a lot of pride into our properties,” says Erica.

Personally, Erica spent years volunteering at her children's school PTO, is a volunteer volleyball coach at Huron High School and active member in the Hungarian community, keeping her heritage alive at the Hungarian American Cultural Center. “They work with charities close to their hearts. We like to give back to the veteran and police communities as well as organizations associated with helping individuals with developmental disabilities,” she explains.

Erica explains. "We always provide quality service and that’s why we limit our clients so that each one has an ample amount of the time needed from us.”

Erica doesn’t want her clients to be afraid to ask questions and says, “I absolutely hate it when people don't under-

On top of finding people homes, Real Estate 3000 also invests in the local economy of Brownstown. Their current office used to be a simple residential home, and they converted it, to keep their business local.

The Hussey family also owns Huzzy’s car wash just down the street and helped develop other vacant buildings along Telegraph Road and neighboring com-

With the help of her mother and sisters, Erica also cares for her brother Louie who has cerebral palsy. Erica says that her brother plays a huge part in developing who she is and is at the heart of everything she does. “Once my kids are grown and don't need me as much, I plan on spending more of my time advocating for those with disabilities.” ◆
