Persuasive Essay About Depression And Anxiety

On May 28th, 2013, when I was 14 I lost my best friend, Gloria, due to lung cancer, and less than a year later I lost my other best friend his name was Devin Michael Merrigan and he killed himself. This led to a depressive state of mind. I stopped eating, I stopped associating with people, I started cutting myself, I started having suicidal thoughts, and I hated the fact that I was alive and my friends weren't. I would have anxiety attacks at school, at home, at church, and any other place I would go basically, it was probably one of the worst times of my life, but I found out that you can get help from suffering with depression and anxiety and it's not something you should deal with alone it's something you need people to help you with and in this persuasive essay I will talk about what causes depression and anxiety, the effects of depression and anxiety, and why you should speak up about depression and anxiety and why you should get help not just for yourself but for everyone else suffering from the same thing around you. When I interviewed my teacher Ms. Olsen about depression and anxiety, I asked her "Why should someone speak out about depression and anxiety?", as someone with a lot of experience dealing with teenagers with these mental illnesses, she responded with "I believe everyone should speak out about their depression and anxiety because when you speak out, you can help not only yourself, but you can be an inspiration, or that little bit of motivation that

In this weeks topics we learned about point of view, structure, and the three types of genres. In the "point of view" aspect, when writing about yourself, you are writing in first person. To narrate your story, it will mean to tell it in third person giving the readers a 'outside looking in' kind of detail. When writing about structure of the paper, you have to keep the paper on the same topic and keep it well rounded throughout the paper. The genres of writing gives the type of story you choose to write about. Having to stick to a genre of writing makes it easier for the writer to write about the story they are trying tell.

When I was first learning how to drive, I made sure to be an attentive and studious driving student. I would pay attention to the long and drawn–out summer classes and, at home would take online practice tests religiously. I would legally practice driving with my parents at every opportunity I saw. So naturally with all my preparation for it, when the time finally came for me to take the driving test, I flew through it with ease. In the days following becoming a newly licensed driver I was astonished that my first car was not an Italian sports car as I had dreamed and asked for. As my parents quickly explained this was my first introduction to the real world and I was labeled as a risk to society regardless of my personal driving ability. My parents further explained the situation to me by showing me the numbers on the declaration page of my first auto policy. My age and gender were enough for theinsurance company to predict how I would drive in the future, and they didn't think I belonged in a sports car. As a good driver with no history of any tickets or accidents I have yet to experience insurance in any other way besides a monthly expense. Dr. Ferguson said at the beginning of the semester we cannot hold or feel insurance in anyway until we use it; so, prior to this course I had not previously had a concept of the importance of an auto policy. Every day I commute to and from either, school (where I park my car in free public parking and trust that no one or nothing

Whether you are a lean cut athlete or if you are an overweight individual personal wellness is something that should be a focus in your life. Having good health and a good body image contains the ability to make you feel better, make you have more confidence, and most of all can change your life. Personal wellness can be broken down in these five things: healthy body image, regular participation in physical activity, positive nutritional habits, appropriate amount of sleep and rest, and management of stress. If you address these five things, then you are on your way to a better more attractive life. In todays society body image is everything, if you are an attractive fit person than you are held on a sort of pedestal. Have you noticed the vast majority of famous people are lean attractive people? I believe that society plays a roll in peoples struggles of body image. When you go to a store and look at a magazine do you see a large, obese person on the cover? No, you see an attractive, model–type citizen and I this leads to people feeling bad about themselves. You don't have to be perfect like they make these people seem but body image is a huge factor in life. When you go to the store and look for healthier, fresh foods they tend to be more expensive than the processed foods that are a bother to your diet, I believe this is a big factor in the problem with obesity in our country.
