As a Senior Estates Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering a high quality valuation and estate management service within our Corporate Landlord model. You will work under the direct supervision of the Estates Manager, supporting the Council’s strategic management of property and land, ensuring compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.

Your new role As a Principal Planning Officer, you will play a lead role in shaping Portsmouth’s future by driving the preparation of the new Local Plan, which will guide development across the city for the next fifteen years. You will lead on key aspects of the preparation, monitoring and review of the Local Plan and other development plan documents. You will lead on research and analysis to support the preparation of the Local Plan as well as responding to planning legislation and guidance. Working directly with the Head of Planning Policy, you will take ownership of complex policy issues that influence the city’s social, economic and environmental priorities. The role involves representing the Council at planning meetings and providing evidence and written representations for public examinations. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, elected Members, neighbouring authorities and other stakeholders. You will also support and mentor junior planning staff, contribute to cross departmental work, and demonstrate flexibility in supporting wider planning functions when required.

Estates Surveyor Salary: £39,862 ‐ £44,075 The Estates Surveyor will support the delivery of a comprehensive and high quality estate management and valuation service for Shropshire Council. Working under the supervision of the Estates Manager – Corporate Landlord, you will contribute to managing the Council’s property portfolio and ensuring effective stewardship of its assets.

You will drive both strategy and delivery, leading the delivery of high‐quality alternative provision. You will be the lynchpin in partnerships with schools, commissioners, families, and community partners ‐ ensuring that every young person receives personalised support and meaningful progress towards positive outcomes. You will additionally oversee safeguarding across the whole organisation, demonstrating exceptional diligence and professionalism in all aspects of wellbeing and safety for young people and staff. You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Learning Lead, Director(s), Admin Lead and Strategic Impact Lead.
