A Grand Day Out - All aboard for the Severn Valley Railway!
Embark on a journey on the Severn Valley Railway, an award-winning heritage railway visitor attraction, running through beautiful Worcestershire & Shropshire countryside. Climb on-board & step back in time to experience the golden age of travel with journeys behind original steam trains & heritage diesel locomotives.
This year marks 60 years since the railway was formed, plus Railway 200, a year-long celebration of 200 years since the birth of modern railways. Throughout the year we have a great line-up of events including our popular steam & diesel galas, step back to the 1940s weekends & festive season.

Originally designed to connect a 40-mile stretch between Kidderminster & Shrewsbury, today it survives as one of the oldest & busiest heritage railways in the UK, following the course of the River Severn.
Seated in comfortable, lovingly-restored carriages, travel along a scenic route, passing delightful period stations & through rolling countryside.
Pre-booked group travel rates (minimum group size 20 people) are available throughout the season on operating days & we’ve frozen group rates for the year. Our team will work alongside you to create a bespoke visit that meets the needs of your group.
Whether you’re looking for a full day out, or a short break for lunch on the move between destinations, the Severn Valley Railway has lots to offer. A range of refreshment packages are also available for dining at our stations, or on board a train.
The railway is currently operating along the 12-mile stretch of its line between Kidderminster & Hampton Loade following an embankment collapse. We hope to have the line fully re-open this summer.
The railway operates on selected dates. To see what days the railway is open and to plan your visit, please go to svr.co.uk.

THE BIGGEST BOMBER COMMAND MUSEUM IN THE WORLD

East Kirkby Airfield, East Kirkby

Tel: 01790 763207

The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre
The Centre is owned by Fred & Harold Panton. It was set up in memory of their brother Christopher who was killed on the Nuremburg Raid in March 1944, & also the 55,500 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives in WWII. This is the only Airfield Museum in the Country recreated to its original design sited on an original WW2 airfield, we hope that this helps to recreate the atmosphere of an airfield in 1944.
Centrepiece to the museum is an Avro Lancaster Bomber NX611 ‘Just Jane’, one of only 3 Lancaster’s in the world that can move under its own power. ‘Just Jane’ frequently performs four engine taxy runs (the only place in the world you can see this performed on an original airfield), it is our living memorial to Bomber Command. The sound of those four Merlin engines is pure magic. We also offer the only opportunity in Europe for the public to ride on board ‘Just Jane’ during these taxy runs. Also based at the Centre is Mosquito HJ711 which gives engine running displays through the Summer season at major events.
There are many exhibits to see around the Centre. The original Control Tower is set up in 1940’s style & recreates aircraft returning from a raid on Berlin, bringing the airfield back to life. Many say this is haunted & there
is a definite ‘chill’ in the air as you listen to & watch the recreated raid. We also house The RAF Escaping Society museum which is a tribute to all those who helped airmen that bailed out over occupied Europe with displays on the Goldfish & Caterpillar Club.
The Memorial Chapel on site holds the names of the 848 aircrew & ground crew who were lost from this base when it was home to 57 & 630 Sqn between 1943-45, we suggest that you just take a few moments here to show your gratitude to the bravery of the young men sixty years ago. Artefacts recovered from the aircraft crash sites by the Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group line the sides of the hangar where ‘Just Jane’ stands proud. Boards around the hangar provide plotted histories of all the Bomber Squadrons of WWII. The museum is constantly being developed with exhibits on the Home Front exhibition providing you with the opportunity to experience a ‘black out’, an Anderson Shelter, a 1940’s kitchen & find out information about the Home Guard and the Land Army.
If you come on selected days you can be served a cup of char from an original 1942 NAAFI Wagon & go on a tour of the airfield on an original Queen Mary. Here you can experience the sights & sounds, smells & atmosphere of a Second World War Lincolnshire Airfield.

Group Destinations

The coastal town of Cleveleys is famous for its miles of sand and spectacular sunsets.
Cleveleys beach attracts visitors all year round and is the perfect spot to enjoy traditional seaside activities such as building sandcastles, flying kites, walking or cycling.
Take a walk or hop on a bike to cycle along the award-winning promenade and as the beach attracts a myriad of migrating birds, you might spot some wildlife along the way.
Cleveleys high street waits just beyond the promenade, a bustling shopping district boasting a variety of independent boutique stops and big-name favourites. If you’re looking for a delicious bite to eat, you’ll find everything from rustic, home-made pies and pastries to traditional fish and chips.

Discover the mysteries of the coast...
Wyre’s Mythic Coast artwork trail brings a magical element to the Cleveleys seafront. Five striking structures have brought to life The Sea Swallow book - a specially commissioned children’s story imaginatively written by Gareth Thompson and beautifully illustrated by Hannah Magee. Take a stroll and see if you can spot the art pieces: the Shipwreck Memorial, the Sea Swallows, Mary’s Shell, the Paddle and the Sea Ogre.
Bring the Mythic Coast to life with our augmented reality app! Join daring heroine Mary as she attempts to save her village and see all that she encunters along the way, using AR technology to reveal the tale behind each Mythic Coast sculpture. Visit your app store and search for Wyre AR Trails app to dowload for free!
A galaxy far far away...
Discover Wyre - a place with fabulous views, wonderful walks, mouth-watering local food and quality accommodation. The home of picturesque towns including Fleetwood, Garstang, Poulton-le-Fylde and Thornton Cleveleys, as well as many rural villages.
Visit www.discoverwyre.co.uk to find out more about places to visit, things to do and upcoming events in Wyre.
If you are a fan of Star Wars, you may have spotted a familiar seafront on an episode of the hit Disney+ spin off series, Andor! Taking place five years before the events of the 2016 Star Wars film Rogue One, Andor stars Diego Luna as the title character Cassian Andor. The series explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, with focus on the path Andor will take to turn him into a rebel hero.
The filming took place by the cafe on the promenade and with many landmarks clearly visible, it is a great place for any Star Wars fan to visit full of photo opportunities! Take a stroll along the same promenade as Cassian Andor and enjoy the stunning seaside views - just try not to get on the wrong side of any Shoretroopers.
