GREEN LANTERN
PROCTOR ACADEMY ANDOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE
1983 1
The Senior Class of 1983 Is Proud to Dedicate This Book to
Chris and Kit Norris
Strong but soft spoken, sensitive yet always extending themselves to others around them. Chris and Kit Norris are a couple driven by love for their work and satisfaction from the assistance they can offer. Constantly they are giving of themselves. Ask anyone w h o has been in one of Kit's math classes. Ask anyone w h o has been involved in a situation with Chris. The patient understanding of both will be missed by students and faculty alike while they are on sabbatical . . .
/ I
Thank You and Have Fun!

W e Wish to Recognize Matilda Swett for 25 Years of Dedication to Proctor Academy
Thank Y o u Matilda From all of us who have worked in the dish room. W e are going to miss your helping hand and bright smile.

Sometimes we feel the need to escape W e mustriseabove it all Through the confining lines and Verse We'll float — Past rigid hand books and perfect prose From here we can feel all that we've longed for Our aspirations a## true But our timing is off and w e plummet Awkwardly lt|e Icarus from his flight The seats of the players are empty W e must wait for the beat to begin So we walk the same paths day after day Talk the same crap month after month Live the same lives season to season Longing for our cue Yet when the lights of springtime dawn W e cling to its warm embrace Applauding the beauty of our union W e weep at our finale And like a marionette, manipulated With strings out of our reach W e solemnly back away from each other While another curtain blankets our feet A.G.P.

While our record indicates a losing season, we had an exciting team with a winning attitude. In only one game did w e not play well, and we certainly were one of the more aggressive teams in the league. M u c h credit for our fine team efforts go to coaches Don Gentile, Bud Burbank and John Schoeller and captains Jeff Geis and Bob Manning. W e never thought w e were beaten, and we played like winners throughout the season. The only reason for living is to be ful and you can't be fully alive if you are crushed by secret fear and bullied with the threat: Get money or eat dirt! and forced to do a thousand things meaner than your nature, and forced to clutch on to possessions in the hope they'll make you feel safer, and forced to watch everyone that comes near you, lest they've come to do you down, without a bit of c o m m o n trust in one another, we can't live. In the end, we go insane. It is the penalty of fear and meanness; being meaner than our natures are.
To be alive, you've got to feel a gener flow, and under a competitive system that is impossible, really the world is waiting for a great new movement of generosity or for a great wave of death. ... no, the winter won't be forgotten it was hard on all of us — didn't think we'd survive, so cold always so, so cold often wondered what kept us together .we were much like bees about their queen clinging desperately to one another for warmth and security we were all on our o w n dependent upon ourselves ... --._ and the love we hoped to receive from others without that concern, that blinding factor ? we'd have never m a d e it through the wifjfer. \ resisting at first, seeking familiar warmth not the awkward gestures of a n e w acquaintance but, found that residing on the outskirts was an awfully lonely way to spend the winter so we nudged our way into a circle which kept the fire burning — flames dwindling, but always visible that heat and love provided our source of existence W e hope that w e m a y only m a k e a recognizable contribution to our fire someday it was nice to know that it had been constantly glowing — that winter it seemed to m a k e those dreary days pass by ,., less slowly look through the suffering and into the fire try to remember that special warmth ... for it's likely to exist m the proceeding winters of our lifetimes.
