Pro Bono Partnership was founded in 1997 with an ambitious vision: to provide meaningful pro bono opportunities for lawyers and expert legal assistance to nonprofits. On our 28th anniversary, we proudly serve more than 1,000 nonprofits annually across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, with the help of an extraordinary network of volunteers and supporters.
Our network has a shared dedication to being part of something bigger—work that uplifts entire communities. This evening is a powerful reminder of that work, and of our “Strength in Action.”
This celebration honors you, our partners at leading corporations and law firms, and the many individuals who share our values, vision, and commitment to action. With your help, the Partnership provides direct, expert legal services to our nonprofit clients by recruiting and supporting 1,500 volunteer lawyers each year, as well as offers timely and relevant educational opportunities and an accessible legal resource hotline to the entire nonprofit sector.
At the heart of this effort are our 2025 Pro Bono Champions, Fried Frank and the Prudential Law Department. These longtime supporters are deeply committed to pro bono work, and to advancing the Partnership’s mission. They set a powerful example for what can be accomplished when we work together in service of others.
While the nonprofit sector faces mounting challenges, hope is alive in this community and in its continued willingness to act. The need for free legal services for nonprofits has never been greater, yet our collective “Strength in Action” ensures that essential services will be delivered to our neighbors because of the stronger nonprofits we are building together.
Thank you for your commitment, support, and action.
With gratitude,
Nancy Eberhardt EVP, Chief Risk & Legal Officer, Synchrony Financial Executive Director Pro Bono Partnership

IN MEMORIAM KENT E. HANSEN
In July 2025, Pro Bono Partnership lost a beloved colleague and friend, Senior Staff Attorney Kent Hansen. No one was more dedicated to our mission and to the larger nonprofit community than Kent, and his loss is deeply felt.
Kent began volunteering with the Partnership in 2011, and joined our staff in 2013. From the start, his commitment and compassion were apparent. In addition to his legal expertise, Kent was an excellent listener who offered clients and colleagues grace, patience, a considered perspective, and his signature wry sense of humor. Many nonprofit leaders shared how Kent’s thoughtful guidance laid the groundwork for their their organizations’ successes and improved their constituents’ lives.
Before joining the Partnership, Kent had a distinguished legal career, including 23 years as General Counsel and Secretary of the Fedders Corporation, and other roles as Corporate Secretary, consultant, and counsel.
Above all, Kent was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, and a proud grandfather.
Kent leaves behind an indelible mark on the Partnership and the nonprofit community. We are profoundly grateful to have worked alongside him, and to have experienced his friendship, wisdom, intellect, and generosity. Kent worked every day to make the world, and our corner of it, better. We honor his legacy by continuing to focus on our mission to empower nonprofits with the same kindness, integrity, and humanity that Kent embodied.
