Inspired by the classic holiday candy apple red and evergreen colors, Pulp Riot Educator and It Takes A Pro Team Artist Savannah Laney (@hairbyduhsavannah), created this festive holiday look to sleigh the holidays. “I wanted to incorporate those colors on white hair, like snow,” she says. Here’s how you can re-create this color look on your client this season.

For this holiday color look, Laney lifted her client’s natural level 9 regrowth with Pulp Riot Blonde AF 20 and 30 Volume. A little background: This client is always a platinum retouch so Laney wasextra careful to avoiding banding and overlapping.

To recreate this color on a client with either virgin hair or level 7 and higher, use a full-highlighting technique with 10 Volume in the back quadrants and work your way up the head, increasing the volume of the developer as you go. Once you’ve achieved your desired lift, go back through with 20 Volume on the scalp. Be sure to consistently check the integrity of the hair during this process.

For her platinum white, she toned with Pulp Riot High Speed Toners mixing Silver, Icy,and 6 Volume in equal parts. Laney prefers to start toners on the scalp first, wait about 10 minutes, and then apply mid-shaft to ends to create a slight shadow root. Then, she shampooed with Pulp Riot Bangkok Color Safe Shampoo and applied Santa Barbara IntensiveHair Mask to condition her ends. On this particular client, Laney didn’t want to compromise her white hair so she opted touse extensions for this look. It’s a great way to add fun colors to a platinum clientwithout wrecking with all the hard work put into blonding.

For the holiday colors, she used a mixture of Pulp Riot Semi-Permanent in Fireball and Cupid to create the beautifulcandy red, and straight Pulp Riot Semi-Permanent in Absinthe for the green. This color combination was applied to very warm, level 8 extensions. Then, they were bobby pinned into the hair. This was for the sole purpose of the photo, but there are a variety of extension types for longer wear options.

For the finished styling, Laney used Pulp Riot Liverpool Root Lifter to create body at the root, Pulp Riot Istanbul Blow Dry Spray for a high shine look, Pulp Riot Los Angeles Tousle Finishing Spray after curling, and just a bit of Pulp Riot Memphis Shine Mist to finish it off.

PRO TIP: IT'S ALWAYS A GREAT IDEA TO ASK YOUR GUEST TO RETURN TO YOU FOR THEIR FIRST WASH TO ENSUTE THERE IS NO COLOR TRANSFER.
