With services in general and civil contracting, property development, project management, timber frame manufacturing and bespoke joinery, Manley MMC (Manley) has experience working with a wide range of industries to fulfil client needs. It is committed to producing functional, efficient and sustainable buildings that use energy responsibly for the benefit of owners, occupiers and the environment.

Manley has its head office in Duleek, Co Meath and a factory in Kentstown, Co Meath. The company is a growing branch of Manley Construction that specialises in the design and production of off-site modular units. The company’ s state-of-the-art facilities produce

high-quality modular units and timber frame houses.

“We utilise cutting-edge technology and employ skilled workers to ensure that every modular unit we produce meets the highest standards of quality and durability,” said Managing Director Gabiel Manley. “Our facilities are equipped with advanced machinery and equipment that enable us to efficiently fabricate and assemble the various components of our modular units.

“The manufacturing process begins with the careful selection of materials and with our skilled craftsmen. Our facilities also house dedicated areas for quality inspection, ensuring that products meet all necessary safety and performance requirements.”

Manley Construction exceeded a turnover of €25 million last year and anticipates a further 20% growth this year as the modular market continues to expand.

Skilled builds

One of Manley’s most impressive builds is the Rochestown House in Sallynoggin for the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. The project was the largest passive housing scheme in Ireland at the time. This involved refurbishing and reconfiguring apartments on both the ground and first floors, as well as adding a second-floor extension.

“Achieving high standards in fuel and energy conservation required a particular approach,” explained Mr Manley. “The challenges of working on a vertical extension were compounded by the fact that residents remained in place during the works, but with Manley's exceptional skill, we were successful in delivering a sustainable project that benefitted the community.”

Manley has also delivered sustainable modular unit accommodation to educational facilities and is participating in the Education Buildings Ireland Conference & Exhibition on 6th and 7th November, 2024, at the RDS Dublin. The event is organised in collaboration with the Government of Ireland and this will be the company’s first time exhibiting.

Energy efficient construction

Manley has been working to enhance the environmental sustainability of projects by considering material selections,

designs and CO 2 emissions to minimise environmental impact.

“The company prioritises the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials in constructing modular units,” said Modular Construction Manager Tommy Douglas. “Manley designs modular units to be energy efficient by incorporating high quality insulation, energy-efficient lighting, low-energy appliances and solar panels. All units constructed by Manley MMC achieve an A3 BER rating or better.”

“Our designs prioritise energy efficiency , leading to reduced CO 2 emissions,” explained Mr Douglas. “Using the latest glulam technology, this form of construction significantly cuts down on construction time at the site, saving money and enabling quicker occupancy.

“Utilising wood, a renewable material from sustainably managed forests, these units have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional construction materials like concrete or steel. Timber frame construction also produces less waste. Wood's inherent thermal qualities contribute to consist ent indoor temperatures throughout the year, enhancing comfort while reducing energy consumption.”

Manley has also established waste management practices at facilities by

encouraging recycling, segregating waste materials and partnering with recycling facilities to ensure the appropriate disposal of waste.

The company is evolving sustainability measures as a business and is aiming to introduce the use of electric and hybrid vehicles for transportation purposes in the coming year. This will reduce carbon emissions in the transportation of materials and employees, making Manley even more environmentally friendly.

Building a community

The company’s Procurement Department reviews and approves the Manley supply chain. All building products meet the company’s set specifications and carry the CE Mark.
