ODD-ONE-OUT What is NOT part of the third page of your lesson plan?

Column 1 - Stage and Purpose a. mention the name of the stage Examples: Lead-in / Clarification/Presentation / Controlled Practice b. write the possible reasons why you are doing it Examples for Clarification/Presentation in a systems lesson:  to present the target language  to give Ss a written record of the language  to give Ss a chance to drill the target language

STAGE AIMS Remember each stage must have an aim (the reason why you're doing this in the class). What's more, this aim must in some way help the students achieve the main aim on the front of the plan!

Examples of possible stage aims are: lead-in to generate interest in the topic of television (_________) clarification - form to give students a written record of the target language (__________________) presentation to present the question form and short answer (___________________) restricted practice to provide controlled oral practice of the new vocabulary (_________________) listening – gist to practise listening for gist (_______________________) to to provide free speaking practice (_____________________) follow-up / freer practice to allow students to check their answers (______________________) feedback / error correction

Column 2 - Procedures Procedures must be written:  as eycrlal as possible clearly  in as many eladtis as possible details  with a focus on the teacher and ngthaiec, not the student teaching Procedures must include:  what the teacher intends to do, and how they intend to instruct Ss  the answers to the task(s) being offered  information about the patterns of interaction used in the stage  information about the feedback the teacher intends to give Ss  possible correction procedures

Look at the following procedure, and decide what is missing, or correct what you think is inappropriate: T plays the audio file again, and Ss do the second task.

T tells Ss they will listen to the audio file for a second time, and chests the activity, asking them to complete the sentences individually as they listen. T sets the time limit and delivers handout.

T gives Ss some seconds to read the task.

T plays the audio file once more.

Answers: a. 90 b. 15 c. 40 d. 1565 T tells Ss to check their answers in pairs.

T checks it with the whole class, marking the answers on the board.
