Taco Wars, the region’s only taco and salsa festival/competition, is back and better than ever! Since 2018, Taco Wars has hosted over 20,000 taco lovers and has quickly become one of the most well-attended, culturally authentic festivals in ShreveportBossier. Taco Wars is also a free, family-friendly festival and its diverse attendees offer exposure in front of thousands of people from all walks of life. Taco Wars 2024 will be on Saturday, April 27 from 12-8pm at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. The event will be an outdoor festival featuring live Latin music, food, treats, libations, and entertainment for the kids.

What makes Taco Wars so special?

There is no other festival like it in the region. Not only does Taco Wars offer up a selection of local taquerias vying for the coveted Golden Taco, but we also feature a free Salsa Competition for the public to judge. All competing taquerias offer free chips and salsas for every attendee to sample and vote for their favorite.

Best Taco & best salsa up for grabs These two awards will be given during Taco Wars 2024. Taquerias will be judged on the Best Taco by a jury of experts, and the Best Salsa will be judged by the public. This encourages the taquerias to bring out their crowds. The most unique part of Taco Wars is that 90% of the food sales go directly back to the taquerias.

Aside from amazing exposure to an incredible crowd, we also offer an incredible VIP Experience! This includes access to the VIP Lounge featuring “Momentos Especiales” (with special guests, demos, and tastings), reserved seating at the Taco Wars Stage, free Coca-Cola products and Mexican beers, plus Taco Xpress tickets (a special line at each taqueria for VIPS).

CREATING A WORLD-CLASS FOOD SCENE Since 2015, the Louisiana Food Prize has focused on cultivating and evolving the culinary culture of our region. The result of this effort has put our region on the map as a burgeoning hotspot for food and drink, and this year’s Food Prize is back with a vengeance! Food Prize not only includes the highly anticipated Taco Wars, but also showcases the renowned Golden Fork Dinner Series (MarchJuly). This series presents a fantastic opportunity for local chefs to demonstrate their culinary expertise and strengthen their businesses and customer base. During Prize Fest, Golden Fork finalists compete for the $5,000 Grand Prize at Come and Get It. This event aims to showcase and celebrate the exceptional culinary talent within our local community and beyond.
