We’ve spent 30 years perfecting the art of holidaying in Western Australia – we started Private Properties when hardcopy brochures were a thing and the internet was nothing but a dream – and are proud to say that while plenty has changed, one thing has continued to stay the same: our dedication to bringing you the best holiday experiences through exclusive, quality holiday homes and local, personable service.
This magazine is an ode to our diverse collection of quintessential WA holiday homes, which boasts some of the best designs, settings and locations in the state. We hope you enjoy browsing through these one-of-a-kind properties, and one day get to make them your home-away-from-home.
It’s not often you get the chance to peek behind the doors of grand old abodes, award-winning architectural homes and houses full of character, but with Private Properties, instead of peeking, you can actually live on the other side of the door. That’s thanks, in part, to the exclusive access we give you to Western Australia’s most unique home stays.
To us, our homes offer the perfect blueprints for enriching, inspirational holidays – the ones that elevate your getaway, fill you instantly with childhood nostalgia or leave you with unforgettable memories that last forever. As such, a lot is considered before a holiday home becomes a Private Property.
Firstly, they’re located in destinations that we live in and love, like the beautiful Margaret River Region, a playground for lovers of surf, sea, forest and great cuisine; and the wild and rugged Great Southern, home to wide-stretching coastline and towering trees. Secondly, they’re exclusively ours. We are the sole caretakers of these inspirational places, and as such, you won’t be able to book them with anyone but us. Thirdly – they’re unique. How? Well, that comes down to how they’re built, where they’re located, their style or simply because we know they’ve got a good story to tell. And finally, each home imbues a sense of escapism, romance or adventure, through breath-taking locations, luxurious design and personal touches that reflect the personality of each home’s owners.

Luxury
A luxurious bubble bath under the stars, a private dining experience in a secret garden and an afternoon spent between sauna, spa and pool. Behind the door of a luxury Private Property, you’ll find high-end furnishings, walls dressed in local and international art, resort-style comforts and jaw-dropping vistas of the ocean, forest, countryside or beach. These homes are indulgent, lavish and sometimes, over the top. But, honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Architecture & Design
Design nerd? Our portfolio is home to some of the state’s most iconic architecture, including a vaulted roof beach house by the late great Gil Nicol, a boomerangshaped haven overlooking native bush, and an indulgent, ocean-facing retreat set between architecturally landscaped rock and the sea. Each one of the homes within this collection are architectdesigned, have unique features, or are built with their surrounding environment in mind.

Hopeless Romantic
For those who wear their hearts on their sleeves, who get caught up in love’s magic, and always leave each other adoring notes. Beautiful settings worthy of any whimsical romance novel, these homes are cosy, cuddly and just a little bit charming. Spend days here wining and dining, nights warming by the fire, and mornings tangled under luxuriously comfortable bed sheets.
Coast & Country
Wake up to the chortle of native birdsongs, watch the sun rise through karri, marri and peppy trees, spot kangaroos on the horizon and enjoy glistening views of crystal-clear water any time of the year. A Family Affair
Long summer holidays building castles in the sand, winter retreats fuelled by toasted marshmallows and cars packed with everything but the kitchen sink. Family get-togethers are specially crafted at our Private Properties’ homebases. Think nostalgia-inducing properties that have plenty of space, are safe for little feet and include entertainment for the kids (and maybe even a private parents’ retreat?). A boardgame or two wouldn’t go amiss here; nor would a pool, a games room or direct access to the beach.
