a note from our Artistic Director Good Evening & Welcome! PRISM is delighted to see each and every one of you with us tonight. We are proud to help you kick off your holiday with PRISM’s Holiday Movie Magic! My name is Darin DeWeese and I am thrilled to serve as the Artistic Director of PRISM. Many of tonight’s performers you will recognize from performances past and we also extend a very special welcome to PRISM’s newest 22 members in their first ever show with PRISM this evening. This ensemble has worked week in and week out this fall to prepare this show together and we can’t wait to share all that hard work with you tonight! As PRISM enters into its 10-year anniversary in 2026, the organization is elated to have become one of Metro Detroit’s largest and most prominent LGBTQ+ organizations. It is our privilege to not only perform great music together, but to give back to our community with outrageous generosity and support to our local LGBTQ+ community. We thank each of you for your support in PRISM’s mission and we hope that you will continue to give generously with your support this evening in our raffles and donations. Whether this is your first PRISM show or you’re a long-standing patron, we are positive you will enjoy all we have in store for you this evening. Darin DeWeese, Artistic Director
Artistic Staff
A Michigan native, Darin grew up in historic Marshall, Michigan where he was involved with music from an early age. With an immense love for choral music, Darin followed his passion for singing to Michigan State University where he completed his Bachelor of Music Education in 2010. Following his time at MSU, Darin served as the Director of Vocal Music at Tecumseh High School where he taught for seven years. During his time in Tecumseh, his choirs performed both locally and regionally, receiving numerous awards including being selected to perform at the prestigious Michigan Youth Arts Festival in 2017. In addition to classroom teaching, Darin founded the Tecumseh High School Gay Straight Alliance in 2011. Following his time in Tecumseh, Darin served as the Artistic Director of the Out Loud Chorus in Ann Arbor, Michigan from 2019-2021 before moving into his current role as Artistic Director with PRISM in 2021. Visibility, inclusion, and a sense of home for the queer community has always been, and will always be, at the forefront of Darin’s musical work. Over the past few years, PRISM has quickly become one of Metro Detroit’s largest and most visible queer organizations with 140 active members. PRISM not only supports its members, but the larger queer community in Southeast Michigan through music, activism, and scholarship. As a singer, Darin has performed at major venues in the United States and abroad including Carnegie Hall, The Detroit Opera House, the American Choral Directors Association National Convention in Miami, and has performed contracts with Celebrity Cruises. Darin currently sings on staff at Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills and recently served in residence at Exeter Cathedral and the University of Exeter, England. In February 2026, PRISM will perform at the GALA Symposium Conference in Columbus – an honor which was extended to five GALA Choruses from across the nation.
Dave Rains, Principal Accompanist Dave is an Adrian-based, multi-instrumentalist, music director, and arranger who is thrilled to be working with PRISM. Originally from Detroit, Dave studied music at Adrian College and has a second home for the past 20 years at Croswell Opera House in Adrian while being involved with nearly 150 musical theatre productions. Dave has worked with Darin for many years dating back to serving together at Tecumseh High School for 5 years. He currently is the Director of Music for his Adrian-based Lutheran Church and lives with his wife of 26 years, Brooke.
Zoe VanSlooten, Choreographer A dancer from childhood, Zoe danced with Dance Dimensions in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she first had the opportunity to assistant teach and fell in love with sharing the art form with students. She moved to Ann Arbor in 2016 to pursue her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Michigan, during which time she began choreographing for and performing in musical theatre productions across Metro Detroit. Post graduation, Zoe relocated to Royal Oak, Michigan. When she is not dancing, Zoe works as an Account Manager for a technology company and enjoys singing, reading and practicing calligraphy.

We deepened our work with MiGen – Michigan LGBTQ+ Elders Network, supporting and uplifting our LGBTQ+ seniors as they navigate new chapters of life. PRISM also experienced a major transition of our own as we moved into The Hawk rehearsal space in Farmington Hills. This new home represents growth, stability, and a powerful step toward the future. It equips us with the space, resources, and energy to continue expanding our membership and strengthening the PRISM brand in the years ahead. My deepest gratitude goes to our Artistic Director, Darin, whose vision and passion continue to embody everything we stand for. If you aren’t a singer or don’t feel comfortable on the stage under the bright lights, that doesn’t mean you can’t join the PRISM family. We’d love to have you become part of PRISM by becoming a member of the PRISM+ volunteer team. PRISM’s mission is to provide an inclusive, affirming and creative performing arts community for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies that changes lives and fosters connection. This involves more than music and as we continue to expand in size and widen our reach, our need for support to achieve that mission is growing. Volunteers are the engine that fuels our success as an organization and the more people that we have to help us with our

If you’re interested in volunteering at University of Michigan football concessions, helping support our seasonal concerts by joining the planning process and providing assistance at the event, have ideas about things PRISM can consider becoming involved with or are just curious to see how you can help, we look forward to hearing from you.
