The Mother the Witch the Hysteric In collaboration with Elisabet Ney’s sculpture of Lady Macbeth, Annie May Johnston is thinking about failure. Johnston is an artist and mother situated in the field of printmaking and often works towards the margins of the medium, employing new technologies alongside traditional processes. Considering gendered traits, the supernatural and pseudo-science, Johnston’s show, The Mother the Witch and the Hysteric titles and labels Lady Macbeth, Elisabet Ney, and the artist. Agency, or lack of agency, is reflected in the printmaking processes that generate the works in the show.

Opening: 6 – 8pm

Exhibition Dates: Jan 19 –Feb 26

Venue: Elisabet Ney Museum, 304 E 44th St
