All Ages/Families December 1–February 28 This winter, enjoy your favorite stories and earn a free prize! Log in to Beanstack or sign up at your local library, complete 10 challenges, and be entered into a raffle for a special winter surprise.

Holiday Smiles

All Ages/Families December 1–9 Bring a smile to someone this holiday season! Stop by your library and color a holiday postcard. We’ll send it with your message to an area assisted living center to bring a little happiness to an older adult.

Candy Cane Hunt: Dale City

All Ages December 1–30 It’s the return of Dale City Library’s annual Candy Cane Hunt! Get a map from the service desk, then find all the hidden candy canes to get a prize.

Potomac Monthly Reading Challenge: Potomac

January 1–February 28 All Ages/Families Stop by Potomac Library to pick up a playing card. Each month has a different theme and everyone is welcome to participate.

*Talking to the Author Bookmark Contest: Chinn Park

Grades K–5 January 3–March 13 Design a bookmark around the theme “Off the Wall.” The bookmark contest form is available at pwcva.gov/library and at the Information Desk. The bookmarks of the first-place winners (one for each grade) and the grand prize winner’s bookmark will be printed and available at the library in early summer. The grand prize winner will also receive an autographed copy of “Off the Wall” by Theodore Taylor III. Prizes will be awarded at the Talking to the Author presentation on Saturday, April 15, 2:00 p.m.

All Ages/Families Saturday, January 7, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Beat your “winter blahs” with Bad Art! Join us for a morning of creative fun and silliness as we let our inner artists create art without high expectations. We’ll use everything but the kitchen sink to create artistic “masterpieces.”
