Call to Worship

Through generations of faithful people, God's grace has reached us. We give thanks for all we have received! Now God calls us to share that grace with others, including those yet to come. What we have received, we will share generously. Come, let us worship the God whose faithfulness endures through every generation! May God's grace live in us and flow through us!

Hymn

We are the Church

UMH #558

Prayer of Confession The Lord be with you. And also with you. We join our voices as one, recognizing our need for God's grace in this moment. Faithful and generous God, you have entrusted us with so much: faith, love, resources, and opportunities to serve. Yet we confess that we sometimes hold tightly to what was meant to be shared. We cling to familiar ways, allow fear to limit our generosity, and forget those who have yet to receive your grace. Forgive us, and stir up the gifts of your Spirit within us. Give us courage to live faithfully, hearts to give generously, and imagination to embrace the future you are bringing forth. silence for prayer

Words of Assurance

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline. In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven and made new. The God who has been faithful through generations is faithful to us still. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Alleluia! Amen.

TO RESPOND IN FAITH Prayers of the People The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen. Offertory

PRAYER CONCERNS

Prayers for all giving and receiving hospice care. May strength, calm, compassion, and rest be available to them. For those in India who are protesting their government over the issue of voter disfranchisement . For those from religious and secular spaces in our society who work towards a freer, fairer, more humane, and just world. For all who are victims of violence and abuse, and for those who come forward to name the perpetrators, to blow the whistle, and to shine a light on injustice.
