THE CHURCH GATHERS Words of Welcome Call to Worship There is no power in this world greater than that of our glorious God. God’s power does not act with force of domination; instead God’s power acts in love and shines most gloriously in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

The God of perfect love, draws us to God-self.

May we let God draw us close, that we might be unified and reconciled with God and one another.

Right in this moment, we say yes. We open ourselves to God. We open ourselves to one another. We open ourselves to love and unity.

In the promise of God’s love and mercy, we take an honest moment to consider our separation, the distance between us, and the longing we have to unity. Let us join together as we pray.

Holy and loving God, in Jesus’ life and death, he unified us as one family. Yet as many families find, we do not love each other as you teach us to. We confess that we are lonely and isolated. We confess that we are people who are wounded and also who wound others. We confess that we are afraid of many things. And in our fear, we cling to things that prevent us and others from living into the fullness of life. Forgive us and heal us, God of love.

In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief, and oft escaped the tempter's snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
