In a cozy beach house nestled by the shore, Lived a little girl named Avery, ready to explore. As the sun began to set in the big blue sky, Avery’s bedtime routine was about to pass by.
With a twinkle in her eye and a yawn on her face, She grabbed her shoes, ready to embrace The wonders of Cape May, a place she loved to explore, A magical seaside town she truly adored.
“Goodnight Cape May,” Avery softly whispered, As she stepped outside, her excitement shimmered. The seagulls soared, squawking with delight. The salty breeze caressed her; oh what a beautiful night.
“Goodnight beaches and seashells, so lovely and rare. Goodnight lighthouse, beaming its light and guiding ships with care. Goodnight dolphins, playful in the ocean’s spray. Goodnight fishermen, casting their rods into the bay.”
“Goodnight Cape May Point with its dunes so high. Goodnight historic Victorian houses, reaching the sky. Goodnight promenade, bustling with families so dear. Goodnight ice-cream shops, spreading laughter and cheer.”
As Avery strolled along the sandy shore, She marveled at the seashells, treasures galore. She listened to the waves, crashing with grace, And watched the sun slowly disappear, leaving no trace.
In the heart of Cape May, where wonders reside, There were trolley tours and carriage rides, side by side. Avery hopped aboard the trolley with a grin, Excitement bubbling up from deep within.
The trolley chugged along the charming streets, Past colorful houses with elegant feats. The guide shared stories of Cape May’s past, Of Victorian ladies, gentleman, and adventures so vast.
“Goodnight trolley, rolling on wheels so round. Goodnight to the sights, the history profound. Goodnight to the laughter, the songs, and the cheers, Goodnight to the memories made through the years.”
As Avery stepped off the trolley with glee, A magical sight she was about to see. A horse and carriage, adorned with grace, Waited patiently to take her to a different place.
She climbed aboard, feeling like a princess fair, As the horse trotted along with gentle care. Clip-clop, clip-clop, the sound of hooves on the ground; Avery’s heart filled with joy, the sweetest of sounds.
“Goodnight horse and carriage, a majestic pair. Goodnight to the rhythmic beats we share. Goodnight to the clip-clopping, the rhythm so true, Goodnight to the romance, that magical view.”
“Goodnight Cape May, a town so grand. Goodnight to the memories, forever they’ll stand. Goodnight to the laughter, the joy, and the fun. Goodnight to the day, but a new one is soon to come.”
With a heart full of gratitude, Avery softly said, “Goodnight to Cape May, where dreams are fed. May tomorrow bring more adventures to see, But for now, it’s time to rest and dream peacefully.”
As she tiptoed back home, she whispered once more, “Goodnight Cape May, you’re forever in my core.” Snuggled in her bed under the moon’s gentle light, Avery drifted off to sleep with Cape May in her sight.
The stars twinkled above, a lullaby in the sky, As Avery embraced her dreams, soaring up high. In her slumber, she’d journey again, oh so free, In the magical world of Cape May by the sea.
Goodnight, dear Avery, goodnight Cape May, Until the next adventure comes your way. Sleep tight and dream of wonders so grand, For in your heart, Cape May will forever stand.
About the Author/Illustrator Maxwell Moran is an incredibly talented artist and graphic designer who grew up in the beautiful town of Cape May. With a passion for creating captivating illustrations and designs, Maxwell embarked on a heartfelt project to craft a children’s book for his beloved four-year-old daughter, Avery. Inspired by her unwavering love for Cape May, Maxwell wanted to create a magical story that would inspire and support Avery in all aspects of her life. Maxwell’s passion for art and creativity was deeply influenced by his father who is an accomplished artist in his own right.
