WELCOME Letter
September 14, 2023
Dear Guests,
It is with great excitement and gratitude that we welcome you to Niño de la Caridad’s Annual Gala –A Night of Hope, Inspiring Change: Planting the Seeds of Hope.
As Gala Chair and Presenting Sponsor, we are both honored to support NDLC and its vision. It is especially meaningful to hold this event at the iconic New York Botanical Garden since this evening is all about “sowing seeds of hope” in the Bronx, to “grow lives that are bountiful and purposeful.”
We congratulate tonight’s honorees – the distinguished Lucy Doughty, a philanthropist, entrepreneur, fashion designer, and champion for Women’s and Children’s Causes; and Ana Navarro, a NicaraguanAmerican political strategist, commentator, and Emmy Award-nominated television personality.
We salute our inspiring fearless leader and friend, Dr. Denise Nuñez, Founder of Niño de la Caridad. While working as a Pediatric Critical Care physician, Dr. Denise noticed a distinct lack of resources available to Hispanic and Latinx families and learned that forty percent of children in the Bronx live in poverty compared to twenty percent statewide. She vowed to make a difference.
Through her extraordinary efforts and personal sacrifice, Dr. Denise and NDLC are providing underprivileged young people a bright future through its mentoring programs, resources, and network of educational and professional opportunities. Thanks to Dr. Denise and NDLC, yesterday’s underserved children will become tomorrow’s leaders – serving as educators, scientists, doctors, social leaders, and elected officials.
Thank you again for opening your hearts to our mission. Our future is in the hands – and hearts – of our children. Please pledge generously.
With respect and appreciation,
Thank You
To our 2023 Sponsors

This year-long after school program is designed to prepare high school students to pursue a future with stability, unlimited opportunities, and purpose. Our goal is to help them discover their value and feel motivated to be agents of change. No matter what career or path a student wants to pursue, our team will support and guide them to be exceptional members of our community. It is an educational and fun space for all ages where we will not only share the experiences, opinions, and knowledge of the young members of the community, we will also share educational and health issues, from the hand of Doctor Denise Nunez, the intensive care Pediatrician of the community. Additionally, this program includes extracurricular activities that are related to social emotional well-being and cooperative learning.
Parents and interns meet monthly during parent-tutor conferences to discuss their students’ progress and areas for improvement.
