A quote from Peter Drucker, a world-renowned business academic, says that “culture eats strategy for breakfast.” A detailed and solid strategy for success can only be executed properly with people who can work together as a team. There is a critical importance of the human factor in any business and, at Prime, we understand that our culture is the foundation that sets us apart. Our company’s accomplishments are deeply rooted in the values and principles that our driving and non-driving associates bring to the table. The trucking industry doesn’t stop, and every minute of the day loads are moving across this country. Critical situations can arise at any moment. How our teams operates under pressure and how they treat each other and customers are crucial to our success.

In this edition of Prime Ways, on p. 22, you will read about some of the culture-building activities that our departments have participated in to keep a strong bond amongst each other. These culture-building activities are essential to our success as a company and something we will always do. Our mission statement, vision statement and thirteen driving principles that we operate by are only words on a card if we do not act upon them daily. They have proven to be a strong foundation to build our culture at Prime—a culture that needs endless attention for strong growth.

M

icheal Hunter has experienced many chapters in his life, having resided and worked in various states as a result of his military career.

Amidst it all, he cherishes the time he gets with his wife and four children. Hunter is originally from Louisiana, but he and his wife have lived in Salt Lake City for seven years now. He joined Prime as an SLC terminal shop manager this fall.

Hunter is a United States Army veteran who worked as a tracked vehicle mechanic on armored tanks during his 23-year career. He started on maintenance and eventually managed other mechanics, which helped prepare him for his work at Prime.

“That military background comes in real handy,” he says.

Hunter retired from the U.S. Army in 2012. Two weeks later he joined Ryder Transportation. He soon moved from Texas to California and later to Utah to manage Ryder branches. But COVID-19 made the work tenuous, and Hunter saw e peop e i o on erne o t the next budget cuts, he started looking for other opportunities.

Hunter joined Prime last September. He says he’d actually interviewed for the position a couple of years ago, but Prime decide to promote someone from pringfie to start up the expanded Salt Lake City terminal. Hunter left a good impression tho gh n s notifie hen the spot was open again.

Hunter did his homework and found that Prime remained stable during the peak of COVID-19. “We kind of make our own decisions for what’s best for us, and so I felt like this was a good opportunity,” he says. He was also happy to see associates stick around. “I’m not a guy who likes to jump around from job to job,” Hunter says.

“I was really looking to step in and help the company out, while also having enough stability on my side where I didn’t have to worry in two years, ‘Am I gonna have to look for another job?’”

associated payroll, HR actions, vacation time, sick time, things like that,” he says.

Hunter explains that the SLC terminal includes a plaza for inbound and outbound trucks, a trailer maintenance shop, a trailer rebuild for damaged trailers, a body shop for damaged truck repairs, a truck maintenance shop for routine scheduled maintenance and preventative maintenance work and wash facilities.

The terminal often sees 500 to 700 trucks a day, but wintry weather can make it even busier. Drivers passing through Utah or Wyoming can deal with high winds, heavy snow and poor visibility, and sometimes interstates get shut down. Those drivers try to get to SLC if they can.

“It all depends on which direction they’re headed,” Hunter says. “Like, if they’re coming across Wyoming, and they have to leave here, and they’re headed east across at I-70, and the road is closed, of course, they hunker down here.”

Hunter says he appreciates that Prime ire t e ts the e onom r ri ers are using our equipment to deliver those goods from the producers and distributors, so, it’s direct teamwork. That’s really what drives the economy,” he says.

The business model at Prime is special, Hunter says. Out of the 120 associates that

work at SLC, he credits Tyler Patrick and Lance Curtis with helping to manage it all.

Hunter also says his military background helps him see the big picture. He likes helping associates understand how their work makes the company succeed.

“When you’re assigned a mission in the military, you have to know each individual role in it,” Hunter says. “Breaking it down so everybody’s aware of what their role is within the strategic mission that makes a i eren e on t st te sso i tes e have 20 trailers we need to get done.’ Talk to them about the market.”

Prime Service Wilcox earned his commercial driver’s license in Richburg, South Carolina, then drove for FedEx before following the lead of his cousin, driver James C. Rose—also a Marine veteran—and going to work for Prime. hen he m r e his first nni ers r s a company driver last November, Wilcox was driving up to 3,000 miles a week and had visited every state in the Lower 48 except Maine and South Dakota, he says. In the military, Wilcox got to see the United States as well as other coun-

tries, but seeing the nation from the driver’s seat of tr is i erent he s s n th t s one re son he enjoys his work. Before he was a driver, he hadn’t realized “how cool some of the cities really are.”

“So now I just make a bucket list and think, ‘Oh, I’ve got to come back to Cincinnati,’” Wilcox s s h t s h t re en o o t it As the son of a U.S. Navy veteran and career driver, Wilcox says the camaraderie among drivers also makes the trucking industry similar to the military. He enjoys “just being out here and being part of another brotherhood, like it was in the military,” he says.

Wilcox adds, “We’re all trying to complete our mission—our mission is our next load.”

“My military career is very unique because I didn’t really spend much time in my MOS (military occupational skills),” says Wilcox, who is 45 years old and grew up in Fitzgerald, Georgia. “I st rte o t in the tr nsport tion fie st e in th t o t fi e e rs then e me intereste in working on aircraft, so I put in for a lateral move.”

After two years as an avionics technician and two deployments to Iraq, Wilcox served as a drill instructor—something he says he’d been inspired to do since boot camp—in Parris Island, South Carolina. Later, in the University of Mississippi’s eser e i er r ining orps he e rne the r n of first serge nt n eg n to tr in ne o i er n i tes fter fi e e rs he ret rne to rris s n s omp n first serge nt efore on ing his 23-year military career with two U.S. Navy medals and three Navy and Marine Corps achievement medals.

Joining the Marines gave him “a great start” after high school, Wilcox says, adding that military service can be a good option for young adults who aren’t sure what they want to do with their lives. “Enlisting in the military is going to give you a little time, give you a skill set,” he says.

“It’s kind of like going to college or going to trade school. And you’re going to get paid to travel for the ne t fo r e rs fi e e rs—ho e er ong o enlist for.”

y granddaughter Aria is 7 years old and has Jeavons Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. When you think of someone having a seizure you think of them convulsing. She doesn’t do that. It is all in her eyes. She can have a seizure from a few seconds to 10 minutes long. It looks like she’s being smart and rolling her eyes at you. She has a device implanted right above her heart. She carries what looks like an iPhone watch but it’s a magnet, and when she goes into seizure you run the magnet over the implanted device. It is supposed to send signals up to her brain to help her out of it, but it doesn’t always work. She was about 4 or 5 when she was diagnosed.

I came across an epilepsy ribbon and it said, “Epilepsy warrior,” and it hit me to have that put on the truck and “granddaughter” inside of the ribbon. It says, “I am strong

enough to win this battle.” I talked to my wife about it, and she said, “Let’s do it.” Through my truck, I want to educate people, and it’s a tribute to my granddaughter.

I’ve had some people ask about the truck.

One driver came up and talked to me about my truck, and I explained everything to him, and as he was getting ready to leave, he handed me $100 to give to Aria.

Aria has seen a picture of the truck and loves it. She had a T-shirt made with the same ribbon. t h s een ro gh he first p rt of September, I was home and within a fourday span, we had to have her rushed to the ER twice. It has been frustrating since it is a rare form of the syndrome, so the doctors are still learning about it, and it’s a guessing game on how they treat her. Having the truck makes me feel closer to her when I am out on the road.

of my job to move trailers to get loaded and, once loaded, move them back to the yard to be picked up,” says Owens, who has been with Prime and its subsidiaries for more than 15 years.

Unlike Jacobsen, Owens is focused on one location. Each morning, he starts with a list of trailers and ensures they are moved where they need to go. On a typical day, he says he will move 90 to 100 trailers, but has moved as many as 142 trailers in a single shift.

While his day-to-day is packed full of setting the reefer temperatures, ensuring the right trailer is at the right dock for loading and sealing trailers for pick-

up, he’s always willing to lend a helping hand where needed. “There are lots of times where drivers need help and can’t get connected, or you have a newer driver that doesn’t have a lot of experience,” says Owens, who can lean on his nearly 14 years as an over-the-road driver. “[I love] helping drivers. I like to help solve a problem—that’s always rewarding and they’re always grateful.”

When it comes to ensuring everything runs smoothly in Logan, Owens is quick to share the credit with his entire team. “It’s all teamwork,” Owens says. “I want to give credit to everyone that does yard work and shuttle work—we do it all together.”

LOGGING MILES Enjoying driving is a must—and perk of the job—for Rick Jacobsen, a shuttle driver in Logan, Utah.

In a typical day, Jacobsen, who has been with Prime and its subsidiaries for more than 22 years, is responsible for a delicious endeavor during his shift—shuttling trailers full of cheese for Schreiber. “I pick up bulk cheese from a cold storage warehouse and deliver it to a plant to be processed, and then back to the warehouse so it can be picked up for delivery,” Jacobsen says. “I also track cheese storage on Prime trailers and fuel the trailers to make sure they’re running, but most of the time I’m just hauling cheese back and forth.”

While the distance between the plant and the warehouse is just 10 to 12 miles, Jacobsen makes anywhere from six to 12 trips per day. “Sometimes we switch [responsi i ities to eep things itt e i erent every day,” Jacobsen says. “We all work together to e e i e That level of teamwork is evident across the four plants and warehouses that Jacobsen and Marshal Owens, a hostler at the Schreiber Distribution Center in Logan, service each day. “I really enjoy driving and who I work with,” Jacobsen says.

“Everyone at Schreiber and Prime are nice people. They’re really good to work with and for.”

hen people ban together, they can make a big i eren e n n Lama helped demonstrate that in October.

At Prime, Lama is a dispatcher in the Prime Power Fleet. He has been with the company for almost a decade, but in October, he proudly wore the hat of chairman for the Men Wear Pink of Southwest Missouri initiative.

Men Wear Pink is a nationwide fundraiser through the American Cancer Society. According to its website, it has raised more than $40 million since its inception.

Each region has its own chapter, and Lama headed up the chapter in Southwest Missouri. He was recruited for the position by a friend who took on a more senior role with the American Cancer Society.

Lama gathered 19 men who either owned their own business or worked for a corporation. About 10 of the men were

people he knew, and the rest of the group came recommended by the American Cancer Society. Their goal was to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society. They wore pink to catch attention and promote breast cancer awareness in October.

Their goal was to each raise $2,500, which Lama achieved. “One of the top guys, his mom passed away from breast cancer, and he raised more than $30,000.

He did an awesome job. He got all the top dogs in his company to donate money,” Lama says. Collectively, they mustered $45,000 in donations. p rtnere ith n et her t te Farm and that was one of the biggest donations to come in, we got $750 from them,” Lama says. “He is one of my best friends. He said, ‘for every quote we give in October, we will donate $5.’ We promoted that. It was fun.”

The men made television appearances and showed up at the local breast cancer walk to cheer on survivors and those battling cancer, which Lama says was a great experience. “Everyone wanted to support the women who survived breast cancer or are going through the journey,” he says. “It was a cool deal.”

To raise more money, Lama sent out an email blast through Prime, which brought in some donations, and he also approached friends and family and posted on social media. Prime Inc. donated $80,000 to the American Cancer Society in 2023.

Lama is no stranger to helping charitable causes. He sits on the board for Colston Cares, which provides supplement fin n i ssist n e to hi ren and their families who are dealing with medical conditions or disease. He enjoys giving back to the community. “I like supporting things like that,” he says.

Locally, the American Cancer Society helps people who are going through treatment by covering expenses, like the cost of traveling to see a specialist, including food and hotel. They are also an amazing local support system.

While he can’t serve as chairman two years in a row, Lama says it was a great experience and he would “100 percent volunteer with them again.”

Make this easy comfort meal on the road.

R

efrigerated driver Josh Jorge’s journey towards a healthier lifestyle serves as inspiration for those needing some New Year motivation. With over six years of experience as a driver for Prime, Jorge reached a turning point when he noticed a decline in his health. “I gained weight and developed sleep apnea, acid reflux, back pain and extreme exhaustion,” he says. “I knew I wasn’t making the best choices, relying on fast food and excessive sugar to maintain my energy. I needed a little help to steer me back in the right direction.”

Taking the initiative, Jorge sought assistance from Cardinal Sleep, the sleep apnea facility within the Prime terminals, for diagnosis and treatment. Subsequently, he reached out to Prime Nutritionist Rachel Dreher, who played a pivotal role in his transformation. “Rachel was great,” Jorge says. “She helped me improve my nutrition by providing recipes and even gave me a steam cooker. Her regular check-ins mean a lot and keep me focused on my goals.”

Implementing Dreher’s recipes and embracing lifestyle changes such as allocating time for the gym, eliminating sugar and preparing his own meals instead of dining out, Jorge witnessed an impressive weight loss of 40 pounds within three months. Reflecting on his journey, Jorge emphasizes the significant impact of cutting sugar from his diet and reducing his daily soda intake from four to two in eight months. He also made a conscious decision to steer clear of fast food, recognizing its lack of nutritional value and high-calorie content.

To avoid the pitfalls of truck stops, Jorge strategically plans his meals, opting to carry his food with him. Rather than succumbing to unhealthy food options, he stops at places like Planet Fitness or shopping malls, where he can incorporate physical activity as well.

Jorge views his current progress as just the beginning of his quest for a healthier lifestyle and has every intention to continue utilizing the resources provided by Prime to support him on his ongoing journey.

Maintaining a healthy diet on the road can be challenging, but with the guidance of Prime’s dietitian, Rachel Dreher, and some truck-friendly recipes, achieving a healthier lifestyle might be more accessible than you think.

An Instapot is the only equipment required to whip up this delightful, delicious and uncomplicated dish. A roasted pork loin with veggies stands out as the ideal winter recipe to both comfort you and keep your dietary goals intact. Follow these simple steps to craft a nourishing meal perfect for a chilly winter evening.

INGREDIENTS 1.5 pounds pork tenderloin 2 cups butternut squash (Substitute sweet potato or any winter squash, including pumpkin. Exclude for lower carb) 3 cups diced celery or veggie of choice (cabbage, br li r auli er r ell ½ cup water 2 teaspoon oil 2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoon black pepper 1 tablespoon rosemary 1 tablespoon cinnamon 2 cloves of garlic or 1 tbsp garlic powder or garlic seasoning blend 1 cup sugar-free barbeque sauce like G Hughes, Primal Kitchen or Yo Mama brands, all of which are available at Walmart INSTRUCTIONS Season the pork with salt and pepper, turn the Instapot to sauté, add the oil and then sear the loin on each side for about one minute per side. Pour the water into the pot and scrape up the brown residue.

Add in the chopped veggies and seasoning, and then put the loin on top of the veggies. Turn the lid on and vent to seal. Cook on high pressure for desired doneness—four minutes at 145° F, three minutes at 155° F or two minutes at 165° F. Allow pressure release, cut the loin into four servings and portion the veggies into four servings. Pour barbeque sauce on top of the loin. Each serving should come out to roughly two cups.

ermaine Joseph is a Prime refrigerated operator based out of South Florida, but he wanted to pay tribute to his home country of Guyana with his truck design. “The shape is the outline of the map of Guyana and the pattern inside represents our national animal, the jaguar,” Joseph says. “I chose this because I wanted to pay homage to where I’m from. I will always be Guyanese American.”

Joseph has lived in the United States for 12 e rs n he s spent the p st fi e e rs t rime He and his girlfriend, Latoya, have driven together for three of those years. She is also Guyanese and helped with the design.

His favorite part of the design is the jaguar. “I really like the animal,” Joseph says. “I think it’s the boldest part of the design and a lot of people are mesmerized by it.” He once saw the animal back home, grazing by the highway. He didn’t get too close, of course. “Jaguars are common because Guyana is part of the Amazon Rainforest,” he says.

Joseph has only been back home twice since emigrating, though he plans to visit his home country this spring. Guyana is located in South America, just east of Venezuela.

He credits his aunt for helping his family succeed in the United States. After she moved here she helped her brother and his family get visas to join her. “When I was younger, my aunt took time out of her busy life to give my family and I a chance at a better future, and for that she’s been my hero,” Joseph says. He pays tribute to her on his truck, which shows the superhero Deku from My Hero Academia, an anime series.

“My aunt gave us a chance to be here, then having this opportunity to work for Prime has opened so many doors—not just for me, but also for my family—so, now I have become a hero to them,” Joseph says. His brother also drives for Prime. “I trained him,” Joseph says with a laugh.

Joseph enjoys being able to tell people about his home country when they ask about his truck design. “I am extremely grateful for all the attention my design has captured, but most of all I am extremely grateful to share my culture and pride with everyone,” he says.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR TRUCK FOR WINTER Trent Phariss dives into everything you need to prepare yourself and your truck for a frigid winter.

STOCK UP “Anti-gel needs to go into fuel tanks anytime temperatures are lower than 20° Fahrenheit,” says Phariss. “It’s also a good idea to have Diesel 911 and p f e fi ter in o r tr to e i e ge e fuel.” He recommends stocking up at a Prime terminal for the best deal.

A JUMPSTART “Batteries go dead faster when it’s cold out, and they are harder to get charged back up,” says h riss o n mpst rt o r tr tor o the reefer, but not if you don’t have jumper cables.

Jump packs are another good choice.”

THAW OUT “If water gets into airlines, it can be a nightmare,” says Phariss. “Airline antifreeze will de-ice and remove any water. Key deicer can be invaluable if you get ice in your lock.” Phariss recommends attaching your key deicer somewhere on the outside of the truck so you can access it when you need to.

FILL UP “Keep plenty of fuel in your tanks,” Phariss emphasizes. “I recommend a minimum of half a tank of fuel anytime you are heading into a winter weather event.” You never know when you may need a full tank of gas.

A DAILY PRACTICE “Drain your air tanks every single day,” says Phariss. “Any water that makes it past the air dryer will stay in your air tanks until you drain it out.”

NOT JUST FOR CATS Phariss recommends keeping cat litter in your truck to help gain traction in slick situations.

“Sometimes getting pulled out of a truck stop parking space can be impossible if you don’t have kitty litter,” says Phariss. If you’re questioning whether your truck is ready for the cold, Phariss says to get a winter prep package done on your tractor from one of Prime’s main terminals. “We go over several items on the tractor to make sure you will stay running and warm all winter.”

n October, Prime rolled out Thermo King’s new TriPac 3, an auxiliary power unit (APU) that has telematic features. The new TriPac 3 model implemente in the eet h s te em ti s hi h is important to drivers because the APU handles climate control in their truck.

When the APU is running, the truck is sh t o hi h s es f e n he ps pre ent long-term engine damage. “They can have One-Box failures, and if and when you have one of those, it is about a $10,000 cost to the operator,” Holtmeyer says. “The APU is super important for function and wear over time.

Previously, when there was a failure, an orange triangle would appear on the controls and the driver would have to take the truck to a dealer so they o fin o t h t s going on o e can see what those codes are,” Holtmeyer s s e h e een re esting it for e rs but it wasn’t a possibility. We were pushing Thermo King and other APU providers to get the technology implemented in their system so we can get it on the APU. If there are codes that could lead to internal engine m ge e i ress those i er no that we have real-time information.”

etendra McCallister, who has been driving with Prime for almost two years, has a self-proclaimed obsession with cornbread.

“I could eat the whole pan when it’s fresh out of the oven,” she laughs.

Her favorite is a 25-year-old cornbread recipe passed down from her mom, Susie, and McCallister always feels close to her when she makes it.

Whether it’s a holiday, work event or family gathering, McCallister’s cornbread steals the show. Guests always look forward to her bringing the cornbread, and she certainly never lets them down!

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Heat oven to 350° Fahrenheit.

2. Put oil into the cast iron skillet and heat for two minutes in the oven.

3. Mix egg and buttermilk in the small mixing bowl.

4. Remove the oil from the oven and add it to the buttermilk and egg mixture.

Make sure all ingredients are well-blended. t the ornme o r and sugar in the large mixing bowl and blend all ingredients. Once the dry ingredients are well blended, add the liquid ingredients and mix.

6. When all ingredients are well blended, pour the mixture into the skillet. Place the skillet directly into the oven for about 30 minutes (or until your desired brownness).

7. Once you remove it from the oven, cut and serve.

His simple recipe includes chicken broth, eggs and green onions cooked in the microwave. “It’s one of my favorites because it’s a good protein dish. I usually have rice with it, plus fresh or fro en i o er ro o i or o choy,” he explains.

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Beat the eggs in a bowl.

2. Add ¼ can of chicken broth.

3. Microwave the mixture until the egg is slightly cooked— about two to three minutes in a 700-watt microwave. Stir to break up the eggs.

4. Add one can of chicken in water—drained—to the eggs, then shred the chicken. Add chopped green onions.

5. Add remaining broth.

6. Add optional ingredients like a tablespoon of Sriracha or other sauce.

7. Cook for up to three more minutes in the microwave until boiling.

8. For thicker soup, add a cornstarch slurry. Add two to four tablespoons of cornstarch to cold water and blend thoroughly. Stir into the soup.

After the dollars were counted at the Pittston, Pennsylvania, terminal—revealing that the trailer maintenance and trailer rebuild departments had put in the most overtime—they decided to spend their money on a family carnival.

POWER PLAY In Pittston, there are plenty of ice hockey fans, and several work at the Prime terminal there. That’s why last fall, Operations Manager Richard Brock invited associates in operations, orientation and training to a game for the Pittsburg Penguins’ minor league team, the Wilkes Barre-Scranton (WBS) Penguins. About 38 associates showed up to watch the game and enjoy refreshments in a double suite at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Since COVID-19, a greater number of associates work a hybrid schedule from home and on-site at the terminal, so team-building activities that bring everyone together are more important than ever, Brock says.

“There’s something to be said about when you get to see somebody face to face and see that they’re a real person and have normal conversations,” he says. “Getting together and seeing each other in a face-to-face environment is really good for our culture.”

Body shop associates at the Salt Lake City, Utah, terminal make up a small team and work closely together—they get to know each other pretty well, says Cody Atteberry, who manages the department.

“We spend so much of our time together, we’re all friends at the end of the day,” Atteberry says. “We’re like our own family.” And like many a hard-working family, when they aren’t working, they play—and play hard, he says.

Last December, snow tubing seemed to be the perfect way to unwind. At Woodward Park City ski resort in Summit Park, they enjoyed hours of tubing down the slopes.

“We try to make it a point to make sure their hard work does not go unnoticed,” Atteberry says of their team-building ti ities t s not e ort o get to h e some f n

rime’s terminal in Pittston, Pennsylvania, is gearing up for a major facelift with the renovation of its nine shower stalls. Mark Piley, Prime’s Director of Facility Maintenance, emphasizes the necessity of this overhaul, stating, “The recent success of renovating showers in Springfield, Missouri, gave us the inclination to go ahead and fix up the ones at the Pittston terminal.”

The bunkroom showers are undergoing demolition and are expected to be operational by March. This renovation includes new tiles, countertops, fixtures, toilets, sinks and flooring, marking an upgrade for the facilities that were over 15 years old. Piley describes it as “a complete overhaul,” driven by Prime’s commitment to providing drivers with the best possible facilities.

During the renovation period, drivers are encouraged to use the showers in the gym’s locker room.

The upgraded showers are not the only exciting development at the Pittston terminal. Simultaneously, Prime is installing a new picnic area with an outdoor event space and barbeque grills, reminiscent of the amenities at the Salt Lake City terminal. Piley anticipates its completion in the spring, just in time for perfect picnic weather.

Despite the current inconveniences, drivers utilizing the bunkrooms and showers are reminded that all necessary amenities are provided. Prime goes the extra mile by offering a maid service to ensure the rooms are kept in pristine condition. It’s important to note that the bunkrooms and showers operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is important for those eager to experience the brand-new amenities next year.

Prime’s Pittston terminal is not only addressing the need for updated shower facilities but is also investing in additional features to enhance the overall experience for drivers passing through.

The commitment to providing top-notch amenities reflects Prime’s dedication to the comfort and well-being of its drivers, promising a more enjoyable stay at the Pittston terminal in the near future.

The 15-year-old facilities will have new flooring, fixtures and more.

Construction is underway and will be completed in March.

CLASS IS IN SESSION When James Sperry had the opportunity to visit his granddaughter’s school for career day, he didn’t hesitate to be there until the final bell.

hen he’s not on the road, James Sperry and his family—his wife, three daughters and six grandchildren—call the Tampa Bay area home. Sperry, a lease operator/instructor trainer in the refrigerated division,

takes every opportunity to spend quality time with his family when he’s home. In November, that meant spending all day at his granddaughter, Mellody’s, school.

“Her school hosts The Great American Teach-In each year where they encourage community members to showcase their careers to students,” says Sperry, who demonstrated his truck and trailer’s features to the whole school, including Mellody’s fourth-grade class.

“Each class got to blow the airhorn, and I had the refrigerator set at negative 20 degrees so they could see the frost,” Sperry says. “The airhorn was the big seller, without question! It was cool to have the kids so interested.”

Students got to hear from Sperry about being on the road as a driver, as well as from other professions—from firefighters and policemen to Mellody’s mom, who is a chef. Taking time to attend this event wasn’t even a question for Sperry during his time home. “The number one reason

it was important for me to go was for my granddaughter,” Sperry says. “She loves to ride in the truck, and it gave her an opportunity to show her classmates what her grandfather does for a living. She just gets a kick out of it!”

Last summer, Sperry brought along nine-year-old Mellody as his co-pilot all the way from Tampa to Sparks, Nevada. As the second oldest grandchild, she was excited and ready to get on the road with her grandfather. His other grandchildren will get the chance to experience a summer on the road once they’re older, which Sperry looks forward to.

“When I’m home, most of the time my [daughters] make sure they get to see me so I can see our grandbabies,” says Sperry, who stays connected with his daughters through phone calls and group chats. “The biggest [supporter] when I’m on the road is my wife,” Sperry says. “We video chat regularly, and when she watches our grandbabies, they’ll say, ‘Hi Pa Paw!’ and I love that.”

Earn $500 when referred driver stays 6 months.

Earn ¼ cpm on every mile referred driver runs after 6 months.

Earn $1000 when 3 referred drivers stay 6 months.

Earnings Example: Refer 3 drivers who stay at least 6 months at Prime, and you would earn $4300, not including the additional mileage pay!

Program Rules: The person that is referred must run under Prime’s operating authority (A, B, C, or D Seats) as a company driver or independent contractor.

All active Prime Driver Associates under Prime’s operating authority (A, B, and C Seats) are eligible to receive Prime Inc Driver Referral Program pay.

To earn bonus at 6 months longevity pay and mileage pay, referred driver must be an A Seat.

No driver referral bonus will be earned for referring a rehire (previous Prime Driver).

To earn referral, referred driver must list Prime Driver’s name or driver code on online application or be provided to Recruiter prior to processing application for approval.
