WHERE DESIGN MEETS ITS SECOND DIMENSION

we celebrate art that is here to stay; that will be remembered,
Art has a way of staying with us long after we see it. It lingers in our memory and quietly reshapes the way we see the world. For me, it has always been more than that. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been immersed in some form of art or design practice. It has been present in every stage of my life, and it has saved me more times than I can count. Years into this world have given me the confidence to say that art belongs to everyone: to the curious eye, to the mind that wonders, to the spirit that searches. It has the power to transform even the coldest, most uninviting space. It also can lift you into another dimension, where you feel suddenly understood, or where a color, sound, or gesture brings someone to mind. Art has no limits; it fits into no boxes. It can speak about anything, and it can speak to anyone. As a curator, my role is to bring these voices together and create spaces where art resonates far beyond the space that hold it. Whether it is a painting, a performance, or a chef crafting their most exquisite plate; each expression is chosen not only for its beauty, but for its capacity to connect, challenge, and inspire. In d2 magazine, we celebrate art that is here to stay; that will be remembered, move with us into the future, and that continues to live quietly and powerfully in the present.

You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. - Mary Oliver
Mimi Leone’s works transmit a sense of peace that only a few artists can achieve through their practice. If you have the opportunity to contemplate her pieces in real life, you’ll find yourself getting lost in the details and the subtle textures of her paintings. Colors? Unremarkable, on purpose. An artist with a BFA in Fine Art and a successful career in aviation technology, Mimi is also a woman who set aside her passion for painting to focus on raising her family. But after 30 years, she returned to the canvas, and following Covid-19 she retired to fully dedicate herself to her lifelong love: art. A real lifetime story, one where the soul always finds its way back to where the light is. Or, as Mary Oliver said: “You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.” (“Wild Geese,” 1986) With multiple solo and collective exhibitions, Mimi has been quietly nurturing her dream. She is
currently exhibiting a collection of twelve pieces at the Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection, titled “The Place of Love” The works invite viewers into a gentle, dreamlike space, where love, healing, and emotional truth slowly unfold. Through their serene compositions and subtle textures, Mimi’s paintings radiate a quiet, uplifting energy, a moment of stillness in a busy world. They are an invitation to pause, to feel, and to reconnect with what truly matters; just as Mimi herself, after decades away from the canvas, has returned to her passion, letting the quiet love of painting guide her once more.

A couple of months ago, one of our featured artists, William Debilzan, traveled to the Florida Keys for an artdedicated weekend at one of the resorts in our portfolio: Faro Blanco Resort; a destination known for its breathtaking waterfront views and serene ambiance.
The weekend was thoughtfully curated exclusively around the artist and the collection currently displayed at the

hotel. The vision was clear: an immersive art experience combining creativity, luxury, and unique moments for art lovers and curious minds alike, and Faro Blanco Resort exceeded every expectation
Friday evening began with a spectacular fashion show at the Marina, where the resort’s stunning waterfront served as a natural runway. Students from the Marathon High School fashion program modeled Debilzan’s clothing line. Following the show, guests gathered for an elegant reception featuring carefully crafted hors d’oeuvres, during which Debilzan shared his journey and guidance for aspiring artists, a truly inspiring moment for our community and the next generation of creatives.
Saturday offered a full day of artistic immersion, attendees participated in a hands-on painting class led by Debilzan himself, bringing his distinctive style to life on their own canvases. Each guest left with a personalized piece of art, a tangible memory from an unforgettable experience.
The weekend culminated in a luxurious dining experience under the stars. The Chef created a special menu inspired by Debilzan’s Caribbeaninfluenced art, paired with exquisite wines. The resort transformed its lawn into an elegant open-air dining space, where guests savored every bite while enjoying the soothing ocean breeze, a true feast for all senses.
From exclusive artistic moments to luxurious experiences, The Art Xperience at Faro Blanco Resort redefined what it means for art and luxury to intersect; truly, an experience Beyond Imagination.
