EugeneAndersonwasthe8thofelevenchildrenborntothelateVelver,Srand Velma(Ford)AndersononMarch9,1944.Hewasbaptizedatanearlyagein Thomasville,GA HegraduatedfromDouglassHighSchoolinThomasville, Georgiain1962.Aftergraduation,heenteredtheUnitedStatesArmyand receivedtrainingatFortJackson,SouthCarolina,FortHuachuca,Arizona,Fort Benning,Georgia,andFortCampbell,Kentuckywherehecompletedtraining tobecomeaparatrooperandwaspinnedwithhisAirbornewings.Hewasthen assignedtothe101stAirborneDivisionuntilhisHonorableDischargein1965
InSeptember1965,heacceptedapositionwithanAtlanta-basedcompanythat broughthimtoWichita,KS.Afterafewweeks,hefoundbetteremploymentat alocalaircraftmanufacturingcompanyThere,hebecameinvolvedwiththe InternationalAssociationofMachinistandAerospaceWorkersLocal733and remainedemployeduntilamajordownturnintheindustrycausedlayoffsacross Kansasandthroughoutthenation.ThelateHelenDukeinvitedhimtoCalvary BaptistChurchwherehemaintainedhismembershipforover50years. Heultimatelyshiftedhisfocustosocial,political,andeconomicequalityand justiceforover50years.Duringthistime,heservedinnumerouscapacitiesat thelocal,state,andregionallevelsincludingtheKansasCommissiononCivil Rights,APhillipRandolphInstitute,KansasHouseofRepresentatives-83rd District(1973–1976),KansasStateSenate-29thDistrict(1985–1991),President oftheOptimistClubofNortheastWichita,ChartermemberoftheNational BusinessLeague,DirectorofAviation-K.D.O.T.,PresidentoftheJayhawk ChapteroftheBlackPilotsofAmerica,ChairoftheMunicipalCourtJudges NominatingCommittee,ChairofUnitedBuildersandContractors,Inc, Member-CityCouncilRedistrictingCommittee,BoardofTrusteesofArthur Gossett,AmericanLegionPost273,andasCommanderofthepost,circa20112015.Hereceivedawardsandrecognitiontoonumeroustomentionandtook greatprideinbeingapartofthecommunityheservedformorethanhalfhis life
A“manofmanyhats,”EugenewasaCum-LaudegraduateofWichitaState UniversitywhereheobtainedaBachelorofArtsfromtheFairmountCollegeof LiberalArtsandSciences(2004)andaMasterofPublicAdministration(MPA) fromtheHugoWallSchoolofUrbanandPublicAffairs(2008).Hewasa restauranteurandcatererforover40yearsandheldaprivatePilot’sLicense,a ResidentialandCommercialGeneralContractorsLicense,andaFirst-ClassFCC License.HeisalifememberofPiSigmaAlpha-theNationalPoliticalScience HonorSociety,authoredhisfirstbook,“Hey,NiggerBoyComeHere!”in2009 andhissecondbook,“AWarrior,aPatriot,aHero,andaMentor,TheLifeand TimesofJohnWMonk,1916-2018”in2021Heenjoyedcooking,gardening, flying,traveling,reading,agooddominogame,writing,aheartylaugh, crosswordpuzzles,andspendingtimewithfamily,ESPECIALLYhisgreat grands.
EugenewasprecededindeathbychildrenTimothyEugeneAndersonand CatherineKimes,parentsVelverandVelmaAnderson;siblingsMelvin,Robert Sylvester,Sr.,Alvin,andVelverAndersonJr.,SarahBellWalker,DeloresBrown andEthelAnderson.

Buthadtheybefriendedthosereallyinneed? Weretheyeverready,withawordofgoodcheer, Tobringbackasmile,tobanishatear? Not,whatdidthesketchinthenewspapersay, Buthowmanyweresorrywhentheypassedaway?
