The tours also feature a visit to the Cobb County Braves Stadium TMC, a sophisticated on-site traffic management command centre that manages both vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the 42,000+ seat stadium. The final tour is the Georgia Department of Transportation's Transportation Management Centre, the nerve centre for Georgia's world-class ITS, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Econolite Introduces EPIQ RADAR Sensor At this year’s ITS World Congress in Atlanta, GA, Econolite will showcase its new EPIQ RADAR solution.

PIQ RADAR delivers superior radar traffic detection, accuracy, and reliability. A key new feature includes a built-in 1080p camera (30 FPS) with lowlight sensitivity and less than one-second latency for visual validation.

EPIQ RADAR represents the latest addition to Econolite’s line of best-in-class radar detection solutions and is the most capable radar solution on the market.

EPIQ RADAR uses forward-fire Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar design and technology to achieve superior traffic detection accuracy and reliability across a variety of detection objectives,

PTV Group Launches Automated, Ready-to-Use Microsimulation Models Accurate digital representations of road networks are essential for traffic simulation.

A

t the ITS World Congress in Atlanta, PTV Group, part of the international mobility brand Umovity, will unveil a major innovation: PTV Model2Go for PTV Vissim, bringing automated, ready-to-use microsimulation models to the world’s leading traffic simulation software.

PTV Model2Go in general is a game changer in city and transportation planning: It uses a unique technology that automates the important parts of the model-building process and delivers a basic transport model of any city or metropolitan area in the world in just one week.

Developed in collaboration with Japanese high-definition map data provider Dynamic Map Platform (DMP), the new combination of Model2Go and PTV Vissim eliminates the need for time-consuming manual network creation, dramatically reducing project workloads. Instead, simulation-ready networks are generated directly from DMP’s high-precision 3D maps—significantly facilitating traffic engineering projects and virtual test drives across the automotive sector.

The data-generated networks are available ready for simulation in both INPX and OpenDRIVE formats and cover key

Rekor to unveil AI-driven vision for smarter transport

R

ekor will spotlight its bold vision for the future of intelligent transport at this year’s ITS World Congress, built on AI-driven insights, scalable solutions, and hardware-light deployment models.

Leading the announcements is Rekor’s landmark, statewide contract with the Texas Department of Transportation — a major validation of the Rekor Command platform’s ability to unify, analyse, and act on transport data at scale.

The company will also unveil a new solution: a streamlined cloud application that makes traffic data analysis as simple as uploading a video. Once uploaded, footage is processed exclusively within the United States using Rekor’s secure, AIpowered engine. Users receive accurate results for FHWA 13-Bin vehicle classification,

counts, speed, and more — all while leveraging their existing camera infrastructure.

In addition, Rekor is launching a new Data as a Service (DaaS) model for Rekor Discover. This offering provides agencies with access to trusted

traffic data without the need for hardware installations, fieldwork, or ongoing maintenance.

Rekor’s presence at the Congress is further strengthened by several other innovations.

The company will debut its new

Incident Detection API, which delivers real-time, AI-enhanced incident alerts for integration into navigation tools, traffic platforms, and operational systems.

etwork Optix will be in Atlanta to unveil the latest release of its Nx Go ‘Camera as a Universal Sensor’ update, demonstrating how any camera can become a geo-coordinated IoT sensor and provide precise, real-time intelligence to modern transport systems.

The centrepiece of the stand will be a live 3D map of Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners. Hundreds of fixed, mobile, and body-worn cameras will be shown in operation; each video stream is automatically onboarded by Nx AI Manager, which can deploy any neural network model — vehicle classification, pedestrian detection, number plate recognition, you name it — to edge hardware with a single click. Inference happens on-site, keeping latency below one second and bandwidth costs low.

Every detected object is converted into GeoJSON, a spatially rich format that includes class, confidence, world coordinates, and a persistent track ID. Nx Go then publishes these messages to standard MQTT topics, allowing signal controllers, digital twins, incident management consoles, or data lakes to subscribe — just

as they would for temperature or air quality sensors. The workflow scales from a single intersection to an entire metropolis: tens of thousands of cameras and other IP-based sensors can stream simultaneously without re-architecting the network or altering the core application. Visitors will be able to subscribe to the live MQTT feed on their phones, watch objects appear on the map in

real time, and export the data directly into their preferred analytics tools.

Citilog’s early detection prevents tragedy in Alpine tunnel

C

itilog will be showcasing the real-world power of its automatic incident detection (AID) technology by highlighting how it operated in an actual situation when the system helped prevent a potential tragedy in France’s Vuache Tunnel.

At 10:33 on 11 June 2024, Citilog's AI-powered system identified a stopped vehicle and immediately triggered tunnel closure procedures.

By 10:38, when a fire broke out on the truck, the tunnel was already sealed, preventing other vehicles from entering

what could have been a catastrophic situation.

This five-minute window between detection and the outbreak of fire highlights the critical importance of early warning systems for tunnel safety.

The driver was safely evacuated, no other vehicles were involved, and traffic resumed through the unaffected tube by 05:30 the following morning.

Citilog’s AID system combines smoke detection with alerts for stopped vehicles and wrong-way drivers. It uses deep learning to minimise false alarms

while maximising response time across tunnels, bridges, tollways, and urban arterials. The system is already protecting road users in major North American tunnels, including the Port of Miami Tunnel, Presidio Tunnel in San Francisco, and Tuscarora Tunnel in Pennsylvania.
