Caterpillar has developed a new
Durilock lip shroud
system for underground loader buckets
Three interchangeable shroud styles enable a mining operation to quickly remove one type and replace with the type that is best suited to the loader application – without changing the base edge or retention system.
The Durilock system delivers 50 per cent faster installation and removal of ground engaging tools (GET) compared to legacy, mechanicallyattached systems and, because there is no need to re-torque bolts periodically, maintenance time for GET is reduced by more than 50 per cent, Cat says.
The Durilock shroud system is available for Cat R1700 to R3000 loaders and most

buckets of 5 to 10 cubic metres capacity.
The Cat Infinitite retention design provides superior retention reliability without time spent performing re-torque procedures. The elastomer compression retainer installs in seconds to allow fast installation and removal.
The D50S Standard is a traditional wedge shape used in most production and development applications.
The D50A Abrasion has a contoured design and repositions more material on the shroud base and the D50P Penetration has less leading-edge material to deliver easier penetration in dense material.
The lip assembly provides the mounting surfaces for the shrouds and corner protectors, which balance corner and centre station wear rates.
Cast corners are welded to the base edge assembly to create the lip assembly. The corners incorporate a stepped design that eliminates corner shroud torsional loads.
The integral corner design boosts corner life by 15 per cent and improves penetration as compared to systems that experience corner erosion and shortened bucket life due to corner rounding, Cat says.
technology snapped up

A US-based mining tech company has acquired Australian company Get Trakka for an undisclosed sum
An Australian company that uses Internet of Things (IOT) technology to monitor mining equipment for maintenance and loss prevention has been snapped up by an American tech player.
Get Trakka produces sensor tags, receivers and portable monitoring devices for use with ground engaging tools (GET), along with data analysis and reporting systems for enhancing maintenance and productivity performance.
It was this that made them attractive to US mining technology group CR and American Industrial Partners, which jointly acquired the group in October.
“The addition of GET Trakka will enhance CR’s business by adding proven tooth loss and productivity monitoring capability alongside their growing digital portfolio of mining technology and solidify CR’s position as the leading provider of technology-enabled GET solutions,” a CR spokesperson says.
The combination and integration of GET Trakka into CR’s product portfolio is an important milestone, the company says, as it builds upon its digital technology offering to provide customers with new productivity-enhancing solutions.
In its announcement, CR added that GET Trakka had developed a strong reputation through its owner and founder Ian Hamilton.
“CR will be proud to partner with Ian and his team to develop the product offering further,” the group added.
