Brilliant Club Graduation at The University

of Sheffield

For the Brilliant Club Scholars Programme involved sessions being delivered on their chosen topic. The programme is structured around 7 tutorials with a PhD tutor and 1:1 feedback following submission of assignments, working towards a challenging final assignment which is marked and moderated using university grading.

Our students successfully completed the programme and achieved fantastic results, which culminated in a graduation ceremony at The University of Sheffield, where we were able to celebrate their amazing achievements. Two of our students volunteered to be spokes-scholars at the event where they spoke with great confidence and eloquence about their journey, their experiences and the skills gained. Students also had the opportunity to speak to current undergraduates and learn about university life followed by a campus tour. The day was truly memorable for our ambitious young people and will inspire their future pathways.

Taskmaster challenge

As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, we signed up to take part in the daily taskmaster challenges with the charity Place2Be. Each form was given a daily link to complete the mindfulness task and also to solve a puzzle that would be added to the weekly puzzle sheet. The correct answers at the end of the week were entered into a draw to win one of 4 form prizes. Three of the winning forms were in Years 12 and 13 (with one in Year 9 too). They also had their names featured on the Taskmaster website Wall of Fame

At the end of the week, we also had ‘Dress to Express’ day, when students were asked to wear colourful socks and tights and donate money to the Turkey and Syria Earthquake appeal. The whole school raised £1,514 for the appeal.
