GCHQ TRIP Visit to GCHQ

On Friday 10th March, some of our year 9 superstars attended a trip to the GCHQ in Albert Square, Manchester. GCHQ is an intelligence collection agency who work alongside MI5 and MI6 to identify early threats to national security. The students in attendance learnt all about how their language skills can help to protect the country as well the need for native speakers of heritage languages within the organisation.

On the day, students learned various languages and used their cultural knowledge which led to them cracking numerous cyphers and encrypted messages to eventually foil a planned cyber-attack. The students did Our Lady’s and Miss Watkins incredibly proud and a fantastic day was had by all.
