More Options. Summer is an exciting time for Priester Aviation. Our fleet is growing and with that growth comes an influx of charter options for our private jet charter clients. Experience our brand new King Air 250 for vacation travel from Boston to Nantucket. Travel around the globe with up to 14 passengers in our newest Gulfstream GIV-SP. Furthermore, our Pilatus PC-12 NG is now chartering from Oklahoma City. We are thrilled for the expansion of our fleet and look forward to serving you better with our additional fleet options. On a more serious note, I would like to address recent proposed legislative changes. The private aviation industry is currently facing a threat from the introduction of H.R.2997 – legislation containing provisions for privatizing Air Traffic Control (ATC). The new legislation would hand control of our aviation system over to a group of private parties, largely unaccountable to Congress. The changes would primarily affect those who use private aviation for business by raising taxes and restricting access. It is our duty to reach out to our local congress members and oppose this new legislation. By contacting lawmakers and opposing the new legislation you will support the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) in the fight against this threat to our industry and our business. As always, I am available to learn more about your needs and how we can exceed your expectations. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Warm regards,
Andrew Priester

ABOUT US
EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
KURT HUMM
In 1970, at the age of 12, Kurt Humm began his aviation career with a 15-minute flying lesson in a singleengine Cessna 150. As the saying goes, the rest was history. Humm began working for Priester Aviation in 1982 as a primary/instrument flight instructor. Shortly after joining Priester, Humm began applying to be a military pilot. At the age of 24, Humm was selected by the Illinois Air National Guard’s 183rd Tactical Fighter Group, to begin United States Air Force pilot training, a day he accounts as one of the happiest in his life. On October 12, 1984, Humm received his “wings” after completing rigorous training but his journey was far from over. Humm went on to complete Fighter Lead In Training, Land and Water Survival as well as POW training, culminating with graduation from F-4D Phantom school. Humm flew the F-4D as a Mission Ready Aircraft Commander until fall of 1989 with the Illinois Air National Guard until his squadron converted to F-16s fighter jets, flying that aircraft for the next two years. “The US Air Force reinforced my teamwork ethic,” said Humm. “To always aim for the 10 Ring/Bullseye, operate safely, fly with a focused precision and not take anything for granted.”
Aviation is ingrained in the Humm family. His wife Christi is a flight attendant for American Airlines and recently received her 30-year pin. “We get to talk airplanes quite a bit at home and always from the pilots’ and flight attendants’ perspectives,” states Humm, “but always in the vein of teamwork.” Humm comes from a family of aviators as well; his grandfather began flying in 1928 and an uncle, aunt and cousin are in the aviation business as well. It is safe to assume it’s a family affair. Humm’s daughter, Taylor, has acquired the flying bug and will begin flying lessons very soon. In addition to being a pilot, Humm has a passion for woodworking, a skill he says is directly related to aviation. Currently, he is building a single-engine Vans RV-12 to use on his visits around the Midwest to see family. He also builds woodstrip canoes, kayaks, as well as various furniture projects. “When you design and build a piece of furniture, whether a boat, snow sled or doors, you measure and work precisely similar to flight planning. You cut and fit the pieces precisely (fly your assigned trip) and then finish the woodwork with that same precision (approach, the landing and then see clients off). Humm has come a long way since his first flight in a Cessna 150. Currently, Humm serves as Priester’s Vice President of Quality and Safety where he is actively involved in safety management, process mapping, implementation and leading continuous quality improvement.
