4 Large Sterling Silver Bowl, Carl Poul PETERSEN A very good and large 20th century sterling silver bowl by Carl Poul Petersen bowl, showing a subtle planished surface sided by organic handles, measuring 3.75” high at the handles x 10” diameter across the handles. Weight, 413 grams.

Note: Carl Poul Petersen (b. Denmark 1895 – d. Canada 1977) was a Master Silversmith who apprenticed with Georg Jensen in Copenhagen from 1908-1913. He immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1929, and began working with Birks Ltd. He then later opened his own shop in Montreal in 1944. Carl Poul Petersen remains one of Canada’s most celebrated silversmiths whose work is sought out by collectors worldwide, with examples of his work in the permanent Collection at the National Gallery of Canada, in Ottawa.

Fitted with a carved pineapple-shaped finial in mother of pearl. Height, 9.75”, weight 836 grams. Note: Britannia Silver is .958 parts silver which is greater than sterling silver which is .925 parts silver. The Britannia Standard was put into effect by an Act of British Parliament in 1697 and lasted until 1720 as part of the re-coining effort put into place by William III, but was never truly abolished. Silversmiths continued using Britannia silver for commissioned pieces well into the 20th century.

135 Jim REID (b. 1955 - ) Canadian Jim Reid, very large acrylic / collage / natural material on plywood, Triptych Terraform, signed in graphite verso and dated 1987. From the late 1980’s through the 1990’s, his work became more sculptural, with the series ‘Terraforms’. Depicting the real life documented account of a lion attack on one of Kruger Parks’ first game rangers- Harry Wolhuter, who was attacked by 2 lions while patrolling on horseback in 1904. Note from the consignor’s archives: Robert Lawrence’s father’s Godfather, a well revered turn of the century ranger (in South Africa) named Harry Wholuter, was attacked on his horse by 2 massive male lions. Lawrence’s work is dynamic and excellent, all about early South Africa, wild game and pioneer struggle. This piece was purchased from the artist.

18. If you are not able to pick-up your purchase at 2615 Lancaster Road, Ottawa, Pridham’s can deliver (smalls only, for free) your unpacked paid purchases, at the buyer’s risk to UPS. Pridham’s will share your information, not your credit card number, with UPS. Once your purchase is with UPS, you will liaise directly with them for packing, insuring, shipping, and payment. Please take note that UPS charges are commensurate with the amount of packing required, size, weight, destination, etc and NOT with the hammer price. Please ask for a shipping quote before the auction, if you are concerned, not after you buy an item. Sales will not be cancelled if shipping is too expensive. For larger items (ex. furniture), please call us (1-877-533-5877) to discuss a pick-up schedule (within 5 business days) or carrier shipping. A list of suggested shippers is available. 19. For buyers who abandon their prepared and packed purchase at UPS for whatever reason, a charge of CAN $45 will be applied to their credit card by Pridham’s. 20. The Auctioneer acts solely as agent for the seller and makes no representation as to any attribute of, title to, or restriction affecting the articles in the sale. 21. DISCLAIMER: Ivory, tortoise shell and other “animal” items are restricted from export out of Canada due to protection under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Pridham’s will not provide shipping or CITES application services.

The successful buyer has to pick-up the item in person. Shall the buyer decide to take the item across a border after picking it up, the buyer takes full responsibility for obtaining proper exporting and importing documents from both countries: EXPORT IS AT THE BUYER’S RISK. Pridham’s supports the protection of our fauna and flora. | AVERTISSEMENT: L’ivoire, la coquille de tortue et d’autres objets de source animale ont un interdit d’exportation à l’extérieur du Canada en raison de la protection prévue par la Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d’extinction (CITES).
