A DECLARATION OF

DECEMBER 2017

DURING THIS TIME WHEN the fundamental ideals and values of our democracy are being undermined and eroded, Pride Foundation has consistently returned to our founding principles.

These beliefs remind us of what we know to be true, and steadily guide us toward a world where we all belong, have a place to call home, and are able to realize our full potential as a community and a country.

HUMANITY

PRINCIPLE I.

in the value of every person’s humanity— because everyone deserves to live as their full selves and feel truly safe.

COMMUNITY

PRINCIPLE II.

that community is where our strength comes from—because creating a sense of love and belonging is the basis for justice.

ADVOCACY

PRINCIPLE III.

that we are stronger when we come together— because change happens when we use our collective power to advocate for our communities.

JUSTICE

PRINCIPLE IV.

that all of our liberation is interconnected—because fighting for and taking care of one another is the only way we will get closer to justice.

HOPE

PRINCIPLE V.

in leading with hope instead of fear— because our resistance, perseverance, and unwavering commitment are what will create lasting change.

Fundamentally, we believe a better world is possible.

Our purpose together is to make it a reality— always striving to do more and never settling for anything less.

Our lives depend upon it.
