President’s Message
To all members - welcome back to the new golf season!
It was one of the more difficult winters in terms of changing weather, and I would like to express my thanks to the Turf Care team for their diligence in winter preparations and ongoing maintenance of the golf courses throughout the winter.
During the 2025 calendar year, the board and management teams were busy with our clubhouse architects at ACI developing the Campus Master Plan and with our golf course architect, Wade Horrocks of Ground Cubed, putting together a Golf Course Enhancement Plan. These plans are now largely complete, and we are now at the costing phase for the clubhouse renovation, which will mainly be focused on The Grandview restaurant, a kitchen expansion and partial office and administration renovation. There will also be a lot of work done in areas which members don’t see, such as storage, shipping/receiving and other infrastructure, which have become quite dated. We did have a small flood this winter, which reiterates the need for updates to our 38-year-old building.
Members can expect to hear more about the plans this summer, including member open houses with the goal of putting a vote to the membership this fall.
My tenure as President will end in May, and I would like to express my thanks to the rest of the board and management teams for their hard work throughout the year to make Priddis Greens a truly exceptional club. Enjoy the season!

Ron Laugher Inducted into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame
The Club is proud to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Ron Laugher, former Head Golf Professional and current Membership Sales Manager, on his recent induction into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame This recognition represents one of the highest honours in Canadian golf and is a fitting tribute to a career defined by professionalism, leadership, and service to the game Ron’s impact on the Club, and on golf in Alberta and across Canada, has been both profound and enduring
“Ron Laugher’s journey to the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame began with an unlikely turning point a casual conversation during a rain delay at a Florida golf tournament that would ultimately lead him from Ontario to Alberta, and into one of the most influential careers in Canadian golf More than 40 years later, his legacy as a player, mentor, leader, and ambassador stands as one of the most impactful in the history of the PGA of Canada
After graduating from McMaster University in 1977, Laugher entered the golf industry as an Apprentice Professional at St Catharines Golf Club, guided early by Bruce Murray, who shaped his game and his approach to the profession. A chance meeting with Al Ewen in Florida, then the pro at the Calgary Golf and Country Club, opened an unexpected door: an invitation to move to Alberta. Laugher accepted and never looked back
His professional path took him first to Calgary Golf & Country Club, then to The Winston Golf Club (formerly Calgary Elks), before he found his longtime home as Head Professional at Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club, a role he held with distinction from 1988 to 2022 While there, he served as Head Professional during three LPGA Tour events (1999, 2009, and 2016), each a reflection of his meticulous preparation and unwavering professionalism His influence at Priddis Greens extended far beyond operations: more than 30 Assistant Professionals who worked under him have gone on to become Head Professionals an extraordinary testament to his mentorship
A formidable competitor, Laugher amassed over 50 professional tournament victories, including 33 individual and 22 team events. He captured the 1987 PGA of Alberta Championship, the 1984 Alberta Match Play title, and represented Alberta seven times at the Canadian Club Professional Championship He was honoured six times as the PGA of Alberta Club Professional of the Year and received the national Murray Tucker Club Professional of the Year award in 2006
Laugher’s leadership within the PGA of Alberta has been equally profound He served as President from 1989–1990, sat on the Board of Directors from 1984–1992, and has continued to guide the association as a trusted Advisor ever since His calm leadership and financial stewardship helped strengthen the association during pivotal moments, and he was often the voice of reason in times of debate or transition
Dedicated to growing the game, he spearheaded junior programs, hosted national championships, contributed to committees at both amateur and professional levels, and donated countless hours to clinics and camps. His passion for teaching, mentorship, and service has left an enduring mark across Alberta and beyond
Earlier this fall, Ron was honoured with the PGA of Alberta’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the betterment of golf in the province

Finance Committee
Well, we are almost there to the opening of our course for another great season of golf Just a quick update from the Finance Committee A relatively quiet part of the calendar for us The committee has recently met to review the draft audited financial statements to comment and make recommendations to the Board for its review and approval for release
Although early into our fiscal year, management is forecasting a slightly positive annual result based on early trends compared to budget Obviously, a lot can change during the course of the year, but it’s a nice trend nonetheless
A lot of the board and management’s attention over the past year has been spent developing a comprehensive overall campus plan and long-range enhancement plan for our courses The intent is to set a direction for renovations and enhancements well into the future From this a phased approach will be used The first phase will most likely be in front of the membership later this year In conjunction, the finance committee will be recommending to the board on how best to fund it prior to going to the members The committee looks forward to the task

For 2025, the Club sold 23 memberships (17 from the Sellers’ List and 6 via the Young Professional Equity program) We also had 21 memberships returned to treasury As mentioned in the Fall newsletter, the Club’s Initial Membership Fee (IMF) was increased to $45,000 effective December 2025, and we have sold two memberships so far in 2026 While interest has increased significantly year over year, we have a modest goal to sell 20 memberships from the Sellers List in 2026 We will continue our marketing campaigns targeting young professionals, families, and newly retired couples Should you know of anyone looking for a membership, please direct them to the Membership Sales Team at membership@priddisgreens com or 403-931-3174
Finally, after the Annual & Special General Meeting in May, I will take on the role of President and will no longer serve as Chair of the Membership Committee Adam Henning will be stepping in as the Chair, and I would like to thank all the committee members who have volunteered their time and efforts over the last two years

2026 Priddis Greens Charity Classic
Title Sponsor:
After yet another successful Charity Classic in 2025, the 2026 edition is set for August 20 The goal is to have 64 teams compete on both golf courses, with the AGAT Foundation remaining as the title sponsor for the event The major change this year is that the proceeds will go to the Alberta Cancer Foundation and its Patient Financial Assistance program This program has been instrumental in providing much-needed funds for cancer patients and their families struggling with the supportive costs associated with treating their conditions These costs can include transportation, accommodations, and meal expenses, which can be overwhelming for long-term treatment More details about this initiative will be coming in future newsletters
While we won't be supporting the Prostate Cancer Centre this year after raising nearly $8 million over many years, we expect to remain close to that amazing organization We are proud at Priddis Greens for providing that support and expect to consider further initiatives with them in the future

Welcome back for another exciting golf season! It is truly an exciting time for all of us, with the course's greenery coming back to life, familiar faces returning, and the anticipation of another great season ahead.
Food & Beverage plays a big role in everyone’s experience beyond the fairways, and this year is no exception. From an operational standpoint, we are pleased to announce that our core team remains intact.
Returning to the kitchen are Executive Chef Epi Tubbali and his team of Sous Chefs, Hysang Kim and Chris Shave, all of whom look forward to once again raising the bar for the dining experience.
The newest addition to the team will be at The Grandview, where Daniel Ryan will take over as Restaurant Manager and brings 20+ years in the hospitality industry, most recently 11 years with Caesars Steakhouse. We are excited about the knowledge and expertise Daniel will bring to the team this year. Supporting Daniel and returning as Assistant Restaurant Manager will be the dedicated and passionate Danielle Bateman in her sixth season with the Club.
Returning as Concession Manager is Andre Tambungco. Andre took the role last year and did a phenomenal job improving the level of service and menu selection at Raven's Nest and Hawk Hideaway.
Not to be outdone is our Events Manager, Sadie Wilkie. Sadie is returning for her third season, and anyone who has had the pleasure of working with Sadie knows she is a breath of fresh air that brings nothing but positive energy to the Club day in and day out. We are truly blessed to have her in this incredibly challenging role.
This season, we’re excited to introduce refreshed menus, seasonal features, and a continued focus on using quality ingredients and thoughtful presentation. You’ll also see familiar favourites returning because we know traditions matter just as much as new experiences Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure consistency, efficiency, and a high standard of hospitality every time you visit

After a challenging winter, early spring observations across the golf course are mixed. Much of the course has come through the winter in generally good condition; however, there are areas of concern on select putting greens
Repeated freeze–thaw cycles throughout the winter created difficult conditions, particularly on greens that were not protected with tarps In mid December, ice formation developed on several of these greens During an unusually warm period in January, the Turf Care team took proactive steps to manage ice buildup by removing snow and assisting the melting process where possible, including manually breaking up ice where conditions allowed, in an effort to reduce further damage
As a result, some Poa annua decline and turf loss is present on non tarped greens Bentgrass on these greens has come through the winter in good condition Since January, affected areas have been carefully managed to support recovery; however, April’s weather has limited progress at times
The primary focus this spring is promoting turf recovery, particularly on the putting greens Some greens will remain in a recovery phase until there is confidence in their overall health While this can influence early season playability, these decisions are necessary to protect long term playing quality
To date this spring, 14 days have been lost due to weather, limiting consistent access to the golf course Progress continues whenever conditions allow Any decision on when to open the golf course will be guided by turf health and the ability to safely access all playing surfaces to complete required cleanup and preparation
The tarping program has again demonstrated its value All winter tarps have now been removed, and the results have been very strong, with protected greens coming out of winter in excellent turf health Based on the continued success of this program, additional tarps will be added this fall, increasing protection beyond the current total of 23 greens
Elsewhere on the golf course, fairways and tees have generally come through the winter well, though current weather patterns continue to require a cautious approach Snow mould pressure was high again this year; however, preventative controls performed effectively, resulting in minimal damage Vole activity has been more noticeable this spring and has created localized damage, which is being addressed as conditions allow
Turf Care Leadership | The Turf Care department enters the season with all core leadership team members returning This continuity provides stability and experience, supporting a consistent, measured approach as we focus on excellent playing conditions, course consistency, and an enhanced member experience throughout the season
New Initiatives | Additional rolling capacity has been added to support high demand playing days and expand rolling of approach areas throughout the year Combined with other cultural practices, this will assist with firmness and overall playability Robotic rough mowers will also be introduced this season These units support turf consistency and health while allowing team resources to be shifted to other areas of the property, including detailed presentation work In the fall, renovations are planned for the Hawk #2 tee This project will improve safety and offer increased flexibility in tee angles Preliminary work, including tree removal, began over the winter
Golf Course Opening | A better understanding of a golf course opening date is expected in the coming days The focus remains on opening responsibly, guided by turf health and long term playing conditions Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work toward the start of the season

Welcome back to the start of the golf season We are as excited as you are to get going We are pleased to share several new initiatives implemented for the 2026 season We'll continue to focus on service excellence, ongoing member engagement, and a safe, rewarding experience for all our employees
Retail Operations | We are excited to introduce several new product lines that you will see in the Golf Shop this season The Priddis Greens pricing model will continue to apply to all goods sold in the Golf Shop, including apparel, golf bags, shoes, and equipment, guaranteeing you the best price on merchandise purchased there
Group Bookings | A privilege of being a member of a private club should include the ability to bring out small groups or host annual events that are not large enough to warrant tournament status but require planning and pre-booking To provide transparency, consistency, and fairness, we have included parameters for hosting a small group at the Club in the update to House Rule 9 4 There will be constraints and variables to consider for each request, and I will do my best to accommodate them All group booking requests will be subject to resource availability and will be made at my discretion
Pace of Play | We have been working with Tagmarshal throughout the winter to improve pace-of-play management This initiative focuses on identifying areas where we can enhance the overall playing experience As part of this effort, we will be communicating pace of play expectations more frequently throughout the season, including a dedicated information space in the lower hallway and regular updates in our weekly Member E-News These steps will help keep members informed and support a more enjoyable experience for all players
No-Shows and Late Cancellations | In 2025, the Club made significant progress in reducing no-shows and late cancellations We need to continue this positive trend, as there are still too many occurrences, particularly during league play We will continue to enforce the rules throughout the season to help mitigate this issue As we are all aware, every tee time matters at the Club, and access to tee times remains a high priority We appreciate your continued cooperation
Mixed Member Guest | The Mixed Member Guest will return to the golf calendar in 2026, having last been played in 2019 With the incredible support we have seen with all Mixed events, we are confident it will be a great addition to the calendar This event will be played on Sunday, August 16
“Have a Day, the Priddis Greens Way” | We are excited to continue with three “Member Guest Appreciation” days in 2026, designed to provide improved access for members who want to bring guests out to the Club These events will enable members to plan their guest invites in advance, highlighting Priddis Greens We will follow up with more detailed information and registration soon

On behalf of the Handicap Committee, we are pleased to welcome all members - both returning and new - to another exciting year of golf. We look forward to a season filled with great competition, camaraderie, and continued respect for the game.
The role of the Handicap Committee is to ensure that all players have a fair and equitable opportunity to compete by maintaining an accurate and reliable handicap system. Our primary responsibilities include education, administration, and intervention if required. We encourage all members to post scores promptly in accordance with the Rules of Handicapping, as this helps preserve the integrity of both casual and competitive play.
Reminders for 2026
To further strengthen fairness and transparency, please review the following reminders for the 2026 season:
Active Scoring Season: Golfers are responsible for posting all eligible scores played in Alberta from March 1 through October 31.
Hole-by-Hole Score Posting (HBH): Players are encouraged to post scores hole by hole. The Golf Canada system will automatically adjust scores to net double bogey where required. This can be done easily through the Golf Canada app or on your computer.
Timely Score Posting: All scores should be posted on the same day of play whenever possible. The system includes a Playing Conditions Calculation (PCC), which may adjust your score differential if conditions are deemed easier or more difficult than normal. A “^” symbol next to a score indicates that a PCC adjustment has been applied.
