Memories of the Mill - Memoir Anthology Call for memoir submissions! We invite members of the public to submit stories about the paper mill in Powell River for the memoir anthology project; Memories of the Mill. Deadline: September 1st, 2022. More details on our website. Partnership with Powell River Public Library and sponsored by the First Credit Union. Launch Event: June 10 | 7-8 pm at the Museum Last talk in the Spring Speaker Series! What is Old Growth Forest? with Janet May June 11 | 1:00 - 2:30 pm $5.00/person. Location: Meet at the start of McGuffie Creek Trail on Marine Avenue. Archaeology on Xwe’etay/Lasqueti: The Island in the Middle of Everywhere Guest Speaker: Dana Lepofsky Learn about the Xwe’etay/Lasqueti Archaeology Project and the rich Indigenous heritage of the island. June 20 | 7:00 - 8:00 pm Free. Limited Seats. ʔayʔaǰuθəm Language Workshop Learn from Betty Wilson, the ʔayʔaǰuθəm language; a Coast Salish language spoken in the Georgia Strait region. HANDS ON HISTORY Summer Camps for Kids 7 - 12 Y.O. July 12 - 15 or August 9 - 12 History comes alive through these 4-day camps at the Museum! Children will explore a variety of topics related to local history through hands-on activities and outdoor observations. $165/person Camps run from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Day 1: Artifacts & their Stories Day 2: Indigenous History & Culture Day 3: Coastal Forests & Climate Change Day 4: Life on the Homestead

Museum in the Park Join us at Willingdon Beach Park with your beach towels! Learn and see a selection of historical objects from the Museum’s collections each month this summer. June 25 | 11 am - noon July 9 | 11 am - noon August 13 | 11 am - noon September 10 | 11 am - noon Family Friendly! By Donation. Suggested $5.00/person Plein Air Painting Be inspired by the histories of various locations this summer. Paint outside and immerse yourself in the beauty of your surroundings! In partnership with the qathet Art Centre. Saturdays 1:00 – 2:00 pm July 16 | Palm Beach July 30 | Mowat Bay August 6 | Gibson's Beach August 20 | Shinglemill Beach Free. Bring your own supplies, or supplies can be provided if needed. Registration Required. Historical Walking Tours Offered through June 15th to August 27th starting at the Museum. Covering a variety of topics including First Nations, Community & Forestry history. Wednesdays at 1 pm: 30 min. tour of Willingdon Beach - $5.00/person Saturdays at 1 pm: 60 min tour of Willingdon Beach Trail - $10.00/person
