Due settimane dopo Vallelunga, l’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth torna in pista a Imola, dove aveva corso già il round 3, per il penultimo atto della stagione. Logico pensare che le gare sulle impegnative curve della pista intitolata a Enzo e Dino Ferrari siano decisive in ottica campionato. Anche perché nulla è ancora deciso. Al momento, in testa alla classifica assoluta c’è Siebert, seguito da Schumacher e Guzman. Tra i rookie, invece, è tornato in testa Vips davanti a Cunati e Correa. Tre i team, infine, Prema Power Team precede Jenzer Motorsport.

EVERYBODY BACK TO IMOLA

Two weeks after Vallelunga, the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth was back on the Imola circuit, which it had already visited in, for the penultimate act of the season. It was a logical assumption that the races on the challenging bends of the circuit named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari would prove decisive for the championship. Mainly because nothing had been decided yet. At the time, Siebert was in the lead in the overall standings, followed by Schumacher and Guzman. Among the rookies, Vips was back in the lead ahead of Cunati and Correa. Lastly, among the teams, Prema Power Team preceded Jenzer Motorsport.

DUELLO DI GIRI VELOCI. MA TUTTO È RIMANDATO A MONZA

I primi due piloti della classifica sono i protagonisti delle qualifiche: Schumacher è il più veloce nella prima sessione davanti a Siebert; che a sua volta è il più veloce della seconda sessione davanti a Schumacher.

La partenza di Gara 1, però, è fatale al tedesco, che scatta in anticipo e viene penalizzato con un decisivo drive through. Ne approfitta Van Uitert: il pilota dello Jenzer Motorsport supera il compagno di squadra Siebert e chiude la gara davanti a un Vips la cui rimonta è stoppata dall’ingresso della Safety Car. Terzo è Cunati, “promosso” dopo la penalizzazione di 25 secondi comminata a Siebert (terzo sul traguardo). Anche in Gara 2 Schumacher esce subito di scena, toccato da Bertonelli (Bhaitech) alla prima staccata e costretto al ritiro. Lo stesso Bertonelli, dopo due giri in testa, rientra ai box per un drive through e lascia la leadership a Siebert. Tra il giro 10 e il giro 12, però, l’argentino viene superato dal compagno Van Uitert, che chiuderà primo, e da Colombo (Bhaitech), alla fine secondo proprio davanti a Siebert.

Inediti, infine, i protagonisti di gara 3. Con la griglia di partenza determinata dall’inversione delle prime 10 posizione di Gara 2, è Sato a fare meglio di tutti. Il giapponese della Vincenzo Sospiri Racing, partito terzo, guadagna subito la prima posizione e va a vincere davanti a Petrov e Hogenboom.

Alla fine, l’atteso duello tra Siebert e Schumacher a Imola non si è visto. Ogni discorso è rimandato all’ultimo round di Monza, dove anche Guzman può ancora sperare di fare suo il campionato.

A DUEL BETWEEN FAST LAPS. BUT EVERYTHING WILL BE DECIDED AT MONZA

The top two drivers in the standings took starring roles in the qualifying: Schumacher was the fastest in the first session ahead of Siebert; who was later fastest in the second session ahead of Schumacher.

However, the start of Race 1 was fatal for the German, who took off early and was penalised by a drive through that proved decisive. Van Uitert took advantage: the Jenzer Motorsport driver overtook team-mate Siebert and finished the race ahead of Vips, whose comeback was stopped by the appearance of the Safety Car. Cunati was third, having been “promoted” following the 25 second penalty awarded to Siebert (third at the finish line). Schumacher immediately left the scene in Race 2, following contact by Bertonelli (Bhaitech) at the first corner, forcing him to retire. After two laps in the lead, Berontelli himself went to the pits for a drivethrough penalty and left Siebert to take over the lead. However, in between laps 10 and 12, the Argentinian was overtaken by team-mate Van Uitert, who finished first, and Colombo (Bhaitech), who finished second, ahead of Siebert.

Lastly, some unheralded drivers starred in Race 3. With the starting grid reflecting the inversion of the top 10 position in Race 2, Sato outshone everyone. Vincenzo Sospiri Racing’s Japanese driver, who started in third, took the lead immediately and went on to win ahead of Petrov and Hogenboom.

In the end, the expected duel between Siebert and Schumacher at Imola did not materialise. Everything will be decided in the last round at Monza, where Guzman also still holds hope of winning the championship.

È PIÙ ALTO IL NUMERO DI VINCITORI CHE QUELLO DEI WEEKEND

Dopo sei round disputati, sono ben 8 i piloti che hanno vinto almeno una gara: 4 a testa l’argentino Marcos Siebert e il tedesco Mick Schumacher. A quota 3 ci sono il messicano Raul Guzman e l’americano Juan Correa, mentre il venezuelano Mauricio Baiz e l’olandese Job Van Uitert hanno ottenuto due successi. Un primo posto, infine, anche per il brasiliano Giuliano Raucci e il giapponese Marino Sato.

Non meno eccezionale l’alternanza tra i rookie: sei gare hanno visto l’estone Juri Vips davanti a tutti i “colleghi” al primo anno nell’F.4; quattro volte il migliore è stato l’americano Juan Correa; tre gli italiani Simone Cunati e Lorenzo Colombo; una a testa per il guatemalteco Ian Rodriguez e l’olandese Leonard Hoogenboom. La bandiera del Liechtenstein ha invece sempre sventolato per Fabienne Wohlwend sul gradino più alto del podio del Woman Trophy.

THE NUMBER OF WINNERS EXCEEDS THE NUMBER OF WEEKENDS

After six rounds, 8 drivers have won at least one race: Argentina’s Marcos Siebert and Germany’s Mick Schumacher have won 4 each. Mexico’s Raul Guzman and the United States’ Juan Correa are both on 3, while Venezuela’s Mauricio Baiz and the Netherland’s Job Van Uitert have won two. Lastly, Brazil’s Giuliano Raucci has finished first once, like Japan’s Marino Sato.

The alternation among the rookies is no less impressive: after six races, Estonia’s Juri Vips is ahead of all his “colleagues” in his first year in F.4; America’s Juan Correa has come first four times; Italy’s Simone Cunati and Lorenzo Colombo have won three times each; Guatemala’s Ian Rodriguez and the Netherland’s Leonard Hoogenboom have each won once. Meanwhile, Fabienne Wohlwend has made sure that the flag of Liechtenstein has always flown on the highest step of the Woman Trophy podium.
