You contributed an amazing $125,700 in April – the third highest grossing Friends & Family Campaign in PVM’s history!

Because of you, residents will be able to have new exercise equipment and a wellness center for healthy and active lifestyles, fun social activities such luaus, reliable transportation for appointments and grocery shopping, and so much more!

In celebration of PVM’s 70th anniversary, the 2015 gala theme was 70 and Still Making Waves. It was a great party and, thanks to your generous contributions, you raised the most in PVM’s history with $320,000. Thank you!

At the Inspire Possibilities Breakfast on May 13th, Thome Rivertown resident speaker David Simpson credited PVM and donors with saving his life.

Donors like YOU made these all possible. Your gifts are saving lives and creating opportunities for seniors to thrive. You inspire us!

Seniors need you every day and you continue to answer the call. The breakfast was a testament to that. You came to the breakfast, you invited your friends and you gave. You not only gave—you raised an amazing $76,107! Nearly 300 guests attended the event in Pontiac, many whom were new to PVM, to hear the diverse stories of PVM residents Motoko Huthwaite, David Simpson and Vernice Johnson. Your gifts will continue to transform the lives of seniors like them!

Seniors need you, and you continue to create new possibilities for seniors. So as The Village of Oakland Woods’ Village People Chorus sang, “Thank you for being a friend!”

The Thome Rivertown Apartments were David’s saving grace after a tough music career that began at 13 years old and struggles with cancer, pneumonia and a heart condition. Motoko has found her slice of heaven at The Village of Westland, and Vernice is closer to her family after beating breast cancer and recovering in her home at The Village of Oakland Woods in Pontiac.

CAMPAIGN PROJECT

The Statewide Comprehensive Campaign goal is to raise $27.4 million by the end of 2017. As of May 2016, nearly $25.4 million has been raised for major capital campaigns, wellness programming, individual Village needs, Benevolence (resident assistance) and home and community-based services.

THE VILLAGE OF HILLSIDE/ FRIENDSHIP CENTER RENEWAL CAMPAIGN Thanks to you and your gifts, seniors in Harbor Springs will have a new home and community space! With $1,610,565 raised in philanthropy, construction began in fall 2015 for The Village of Hillside/Friendship Center Renewal project, which

is replacing the oldest buildings on campus with 32 new, affordable senior apartments accessible to seniors with disabilities. The project will also triple the size of the Friendship Center to accommodate more programs and serve more local seniors.

The new building has come a long way since construction started last September. Only a short time ago, the roof was set in place, windows were added and, on the east side, walls were put up. The heating, plumbing and electrical work is continuing on the west side of the building and work is underway on the road and sidewalks.

With the new building expected to be complete in August, we are nearly there!

HARTFORD VILLAGE Your generous gifts will give older adults a brand new senior living community in northwest Detroit!

Hartford Village is a joint venture between Hartford Memorial Baptist Church and PVM, offering independent living through 39 cottages with attached garages and 45 apartments. This unique, mixed-income senior living community is located on Meyers Road near the Northwest Activities Center.

Since construction began in October, the ten buildings making up the community have been built, with construction at different phases. Most of the buildings are ready for electrical, brick work has started and roads and sidewalks are being poured. THE VILLAGE OF EAST HARBOR HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER The fundraising campaign to bring a new, state-of-the-art Health & Wellness Center to The Village of East Harbor in Chesterfield continues to progress toward the $2 Million goal, with $913,804 raised through May 2016.

To accommodate other campus renovations, a new site plan and drawings of the center are in progress. The Health & Wellness Center will continue to offer residents and community seniors specialized rehabilitation and therapy services for more effective treatment, as well as exercise and gym amenities and programming.

YOU MADE A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES, Continued from page 1 Ms. Regina Lawson, of The Thome Rivertown Senior Apartments in Detroit, earned the honor of being the first resident Master of Ceremonies for the evening. She was nervous but took on the charge of entertaining over 550 guests. And did she entertain! Thank you for making this special moment happen!

In her words, the gala was Regina’s “shining moment” of 2015 and something she will always cherish. The administration at Thome Rivertown along with fellow residents has said that since that evening, she has evolved into a true leader on the campus. She plays a key role in creating activities to engage the residents. Engaging residents can be challenge. It takes confident individuals, like Regina, to make residents feel comfortable enough to leave their safe haven and get involved.

Come to Thome Rivertown and you’ll feel the energy, due in large part to Regina’s help. Thank you!
