Topeka Presbyterian Manor achieves survey excellence twice in 20 days Topeka Presbyterian Manor earned a zero-deficiency survey for two focused infection control surveys for their health care center in November. The surveys were conducted by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
These local organizations will inspire your creativity As we start another year and look forward to our annual Art is Ageless® exhibition, now is a perfect time to consider a new creative hobby. Topeka-area artists age 65 or older are invited to submit work in the categories of Christmas, drawing, fiber arts, mixed media/crafts, needlework, painting, quilting, and sculpture/3D for the 21st annual Art is Ageless exhibition and competition. You may not consider yourself an artist, but it’s never too late to try a new creative endeavor. Many Art is Ageless entrants did not start their creative practice until they retired. If you’re not sure where to start, organizations in the Topeka area can be good sources of instruction and inspiration. Senior living communities are surveyed annually by their licensing agency for compliance of regulations established by CMS. CMS licenses skilled nursing facilities. These regulations are designed to ensure a standard of care is met. By meeting these standards, senior living communities are able to renew their licenses and continue to provide care. The focused infection control surveys hone in on a skilled nursing facility’s adherence Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and CMS guidance for infection control practices to prevent disease at the community.
