ASTRA awards scholarships to aging services professionals The Aging Services Transformation Alliance (ASTRA) awarded 12 scholarships totaling more than $8,000 to individuals working in the field of aging services in Kansas in September. Jon Van Veldhuizen, activity director at Sterling Presbyterian Manor, was a recipient of an award. He is seeking a certification as a long-term care fitness leader.

Since that time more than $20,000 in scholarships has been awarded to nearly 25 individuals who are making a difference in the field every day. “We are thrilled to support a workforce of excellence in aging services professionals in Kansas,” stated Debra Zehr, Leading Age Kansas president/CEO. “The recipients are committed to lifelong learning and providing the best service and care to the residents they serve.”
