Solarium addition: From dreams to donations Walk to End Alzheimer’s Tranquility House at Rolla Presbyterian Manor offers a dedicated memory care neighborhood, providing services and compassion for the everchanging needs of seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.

We provide specialty programs designed to engage the mind and provide purpose, as well as plenty of social opportunities for residents and their loved one.

Campus leaders hope to have a new solarium here by next fall.

Adding a solarium to the end of Tranquility House has been something Ann Caudill, executive director, has wanted for some time. As donations are coming in, it looks like it could soon become a reality.

“We would love to have it available and ready to go by next fall,” said Ann. The plan is to create a solarium at the end of the hallway that is currently a porch and would provide access through the garden all year long.

“We’re going to enclose the porch with glass, have furniture, some type of flooring, and add heating and cooling so it can go year-round. The neat part is that residents can go from their dining/living area and go outdoors to the enclosed garden, take the meandering walkway through the grass and end SOLARIUM - continued on page 4

Write to remember Oh, that my words were recorded, that they were written on a scroll, that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead or engraved in rock forever! (Job 19:23-24, NIV)

Writing rarely seems to come naturally for most people. If parents could make their children write everything from age two through adulthood, writing would be more normal than talking. When it comes to recording things for future recollection, writing beats talking every time. Writing is possibly the single best memory tool ever invented by humans. Recording your thoughts, memories and dreams in writing preserves them for you and your descendants.

To remember the past, keep a journal.

Journaling provides a vehicle for remembering the small events and current points of view in your life.

To accomplish your goals, write them down.

Recording realistic goals in writing makes the odds of achieving them go up dramatically. Writing goals provides them shape and attaches them to a plan. It also keeps them in front of you so they do not fall by the wayside. As you reach various goals, a sense of accomplishment will come from crossing them off your list.

To keep your appointments, learn to record what you need to remember.

Those who attend will be given an opportunity to earn their own wings by making a donation to our Good Samaritan Program, which assists local seniors living at our campus who have outlived their financial resources.
