The fourth verse of “The StarSpangled Banner” is as follows: O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation. Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
“Springtime Landscape” by Phyllis Hutchinson won first place in the amateur painting category during our recent Art is Ageless® competition.
Art is Ageless® winners announced Rolla Presbyterian Manor recently hosted a reception for the winning artists in the annual Art is Ageless® juried competition.
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
“The Art is Ageless program and the stories that come from it are inspirational. We are honored to exhibit artwork by seniors,” said Joelle Freeland, marketing director and senior living counselor. “Art is Ageless is unique in featuring only the works of artists age 65 and older. Our artists prove that art, in any form, is an ageless ambition.”

The “Star-Spangled Banner” was written on September 14, 1814, by Francis Scott Key while on the HMS Minden. At 35 years of age, he was about the same age as the nation. The night was spent watching the attack of Fort McHenry during the NATION, continued on page 3
