A great day in nature Our life enrichment department recently planned a great day outside for some of our residents. They visited Maramec Springs Park in St. James, a well-known trout fisheries park. Ten residents from different levels of living went on the trip to see the leaves changing colors and to spend a day out in nature. u
Kenneth Ware joins Rolla Presbyterian Manor as Dining Services Director Kenneth Ware has served a variety of hungry eaters over the course of his career, including a 20-year stint in the Army. But now that he’s the new Dining Services Director at Rolla Presbyterian Manor he admits, senior living dining is unique. “You have a captive audience, so you get a chance to really get to know the people enjoying your food,” Kenneth explained. “It’s their home. It’s not like a restaurant where you may or may not see them again.” Kenneth comes to The Manor with experience in other areas of the senior living industry, but said the move makes sense at this time in his career. “At this stage in my career it’s where I want to be,” he says. Ware is originally from Greenville, North Carolina, while his wife is from California. Now that their children are grown, they’ve found a home in the Midwest. “I’m looking forward to meeting our residents’ needs,” he shared. “It gives me an opportunity to make sure they’re enjoying their dining experience in retirement.” Please join us in welcoming Kenneth Ware to the Rolla Presbyterian Manor team! u

Mark your calendars for the 2024 Art is Ageless® competition juried exhibit, scheduled for March 18-28, 2024. This year the exhibit will be held in the Community Room at Rolla Presbyterian Manor. It’s that time of year again – to call for entries for next year’s Art is Ageless® competition. Rolla Presbyterian Manor is once again seeking artists aged 65 and older for the annual Art is Ageless®
Entries of artistic works will compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 2025 Art is Ageless® calendar but artists may choose to enter works for exhibit only. For the competition, the artist must
have been 65 at the time of creation and have completed the work in the past five years (since January 2019). There are nine categories, as well as designations of amateur or professional. 25 years and counting for Housekeeper Brenda Hammond! One of our fabulous housekeepers, Brenda Hammond, recently celebrated 25 years of working at Rolla Presbyterian Manor! “I heard it was a nice place to work when I applied,” she said. “It’s the residents who have kept me coming back all these years. Our residents are the very best.” Brenda says the day-to-day work has continued to be fulfilling even after all these years. “I like the work I do every day and I like the people I work with,” she said. “That’s a hard combination to beat.” In her spare time, Brenda likes to read, watch movies, and spend time with her family. Please join us in celebrating 25 years of service with Brenda Hammond! u
A quarter century of service to Rolla Presbyterian Residents for Theresa Wood! Theresa Wood, one of our great CNAs, knew she wanted to work at Rolla Presbyterian Manor when she was still in high school. “I did my clinicals here,” she explained. “It seemed like a great place to work and right after graduation, I started my job here.” 25 years later, she has no regrets. “I love of the residents,” she explained. “That’s what it’s all about.” As for her longevity, she shared it’s all about how she was raised. “I was brought up that you have a job, and if you’re happy you keep it. That’s instinctive in me,” she adds.

“I love the atmosphere and taking care of the residents and knowing what I’m doing is making a difference.” As for her personal life… “I’m married and have two kids and five dogs and two cats,” she shared. “I’m an animal lover and I enjoy spending time with them and watching movies.” Wood also enjoys antiquing and visiting flea markets. Rolla Presbyterian Manor shares customer service survey responses Rolla Presbyterian Manor continues to seek customer feedback through monthly telephone surveys. Each month, residents and their representatives are randomly
selected to participate in telephone satisfaction surveys conducted by Pinnacle Quality Insight. The graphic highlights some of the survey results. All scores are given
on a 5-point scale, with 5 being the highest score and 1 the lowest score. Between September 2022 and August 2023, Rolla Presbyterian Manor residents and their families gave the community high scores in for demonstrating dignity and respect, an easy move-in process, the cleanliness and the dining services. We greatly value the opinions of our residents and their representatives about the care and services we provide, and we encourage them to participate honestly when contacted by Pinnacle Quality Insight. All state and federal confidentiality laws are met in Pinnacle’s service. u
