Chaplain’s corner: What is man? By Jerroll Martens, chaplain, Newton Presbyterian Manor

The Psalmist asked this question in Psalm 8 as he observed the vast universe. Science now can see into space and view objects that are billions of light years away, and they believe there is much more they cannot see. God created our great universe, but this passage and others make it clear that God’s greatest concern is for man. The universe can help us understand that His care and love is for us. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving kindness toward those who fear Him.” (Ps 103:11) As the heavens cannot be measured, so it is impossible for Him to turn away His own people. The universe also reminds us that as the heavens are high above the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, CHAPLAIN, continued on page 5

New Wellness Director seeks new ideas Kaitlyn Hollaway is ready to be a resource for anyone at Newton Presbyterian Manor who wants to improve his or her health and wellness. But as our new wellness director, Kaitlyn also is eager to hear from residents and staff about new classes or events they would like to see. “The goal is to make Presbyterian Manor an environment where it is easy to make healthy choices for your life,” said Kaitlyn, who joined our team in April. Kaitlyn plans to survey residents about their interests to add new exercise classes and other opportunities to get active. She is already developing cooking classes for residents and staff to learn easy, healthy DIRECTOR, continued on page 2
