Wellness Center provides access to a new you—all year long

If you’re like most people, “getting healthier” is probably at the top of your New Year’s resolutions. However, Wellness Director Alex Ramos is here to tell you that there really isn’t a magical date on the calendar to get started. “Most of us use the new year as an opportunity to make healthy changes to our lifestyles. However, the reality of it is, we can start making changes at any time we feel is right,” said Alex. According to Alex, the key to making positive, long-term changes to one’s health is being consistent and for many that’s only possible when access to the tools they need is convenient. “The location of where we exercise is a key ingredient for us to meet our health and wellness goals. What better place than where we live and where we work?” said Alex. “Having access to a place like the Wellness Center WELLNESS - continued on page 2

The PATH to success ®

Helen Keeling took advantage of Presbyterian Manor’s PATH® (Post-Acute to Home) program to work on balance and strength-building so she can better enjoy time with her family who lives close by. PATH has helped many from our campus and from the greater community achieve their goals after a hospitalization, and insurance generally pays for it! If you need the details, contact Noelle Dickinson, director of marketing, at 316-283-5400 or ndickinson@ pmma.org. ◆

HOLIDAY FELLOWSHIP Holiday meals are like big family reunions at Presbyterian Manor… but without the cooking and prep! We so appreciate hosting so many of you this season.

HOLIDAY EVENTS

Meeting Santa at the Midian Shrine Feztival of Trees was just one highlight of the dozens of events, light tours, dinners and concerts that happened this wonderful season. The holidays gave us many opportunities to share with others, and we are thankful for the gifts of time, talent and treasure shared with us at Presbyterian Manor.

Thanks to Heart and Soul Hospice and their contacts, many of us got to enjoy several visiting bunnies on a cold Friday afternoon. They certainly know how to relax, even during this busy season. Bingo with the children of the Newton Homeschool Association was fun for all ages.

Bravo of the Month: Alice Zhao Bravo of the Month goes to Alice Zhao who works in Haury Place for dining services. Tara Stewart writes, “Alice comes in on her days off to help celebrate Haury resident birthdays. Not only does she come in and help celebrate, but she buys the resident balloons, birthday plates and napkins, and ice cream. This is really awesome that Alice does this, and the residents love it. It truly makes them feel special. Thanks, Alice!”◆

Pardon our dust!

We’re so excited to watch a special remodeling project unfold in the coming months. Thanks to a generous estate gift from former employee and longterm resident Christena Bowen and an investment from Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, the main building common areas such as the lobby, dining room, sunroom and all of the Kalb Villa assisted living hallways are getting a major facelift. We recognize that there will be changes in our daily routine to accommodate this project, but we are pleased to consider this an adventure to a more modern and functional living space. Please check at the front desk for updates or to ask questions. Thank you!
