Hearts displayed in windows on campus are spreading love throughout the community. Residents and staff enjoyed the drive-by car show.
Antique car show entertains with a drive-by parade Our community’s parking lot was recently the site of a drive-by car show hosted by the Antique Automobile Club of America – Lawrence Region. “Since we’re all homebound these days, we got to thinking it would be kind of nice to get a bunch of our cars and go around and drive by our members that are homebound and through parking lots of retirement communities,” said Paul Maxon, club treasurer. Lawrence Presbyterian Marion was one of three communities who got to enjoy the first drive-by car show put on by this group. From a 1960 Corvette to a 1964 Mustang and 1969 GTO, the local club had about a dozen cars drive through the parking lot so residents could watch from their windows. “We hope everybody enjoyed it and had as much fun as we had,” said Pete. The club, which has been around since the early 1950s, has hosted an annual swap meet at the fairgrounds for 57 years. They also have a free car show every year for the community to enjoy. This year’s free car show is Sunday, October 4 and there will be more than 100 cars to view. Everyone is invited! ◆ For additional photos, see page 2
A heartwarming experience By now, we hope you all have experienced our public display of affection. We are posting hearts in the windows of our building as a way to show all the love the employees have for our residents and all the love they give back to us. The love is spreading!
Suzy Jach, activities director and concierge at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, shared an experience she had while grabbing lunch at McDonald’s recently. “I just wanted to share the neat thing that happened to me. McDonald’s has free meals for health care workers, etc., so we went through the line and a volunteer met us to give me my HEART - continued on page 2

I always hear wonderful things about that place. Thank you for being there for those special people!’ I said, ‘Yes, I am very blessed to work there, and I thank you!’” We love our residents, staff and community! ◆
